***Official*** India in Pakistan

Younis Khan and Kamran Akmal love to bat versus India. They know how to play the Indian spinners very well. Pakistan can make quick runs and put India under pressure tomorrow if they are brave enough to go down that road. With only 1 wicket for Pakistan, they find themselves in a position to decide the possible course of the match. A draw does look the likely outcome even if both teams intent to play for a win from the current scenario.

Dean Jones "The pitch hasn't broken as much as expected on day 4 Shahid?"
Afridi "On day 10 it may break maybe."

These pitches are a disgrace. Even Afridi is looking like Bradman.
Looking like ?? Thats blasphemy :@

He has long overtaken that old over rated un professional dead track bully of unprofessional bowling attacks while umpires refused to declare him out

If they do that, which other bowler would be dropped for the batsman?
Judging by what he posted, it really wouldnt shock me if he thought Agarkar was a specialist batsman...

Aha! So finally you agree Bradman is overrated!

<goes off looking for the appropriate smiley>

BTW, what a waste of time this series.

Judging by what he posted I think he quite conveniently forgot that his team has 4 specialist bowlers and suggested a single change from the current lineup from Pathan to Agarkar.

I refuse to believe that ANYbody can consider AA a specialist batsman! 8-)

Not really. The first match was a waste of time really. But there were many interesting events in this one - Afridi-Pathan exchange, Dhoni-Pathan running comedy with Pathan (RULED!), all those misfields created a lot of uncertainties and Shoaib's anger (what a drama)!

Yes, and?

That's about par for the way they've batted all series.

Hardly looking for quick runs.
umm Butt was going for quick runs in his inning. Pakistan slowed down later on to end at a lower run rate to preserve wickets for Day 5. A good strategy I thought over all.

CW Day Four Report

In 1954-55 India, led by Vinoo Mankad, embarked on their first tour to Pakistan. All five Tests ended in dour draws, and the captains were criticised for their negative tactics: both felt an obligation to 'kill' the game before attempting any push for victory.

Now it seems, following several memorable and scintillating series, that Asian cricket has turned full circle, though on this occasion the Pakistani groundsmen are more at fault than the players. On a day when India finally totalled 603; Pakistan, restarting 15 runs behind, effortlessly stamped out the smouldering oxygen-starved cigarette of a positive result into the dust of Faisalabad.

With the only likely outcome a draw, Pakistan's first aim must have been to nullify the Indian spin threat, and build a safe platform clear of any uncertainty. That they did, with only the loss of opener Salman Butt the only hiccup. Having seen off a tricky start from the opening seamers, a lax Salman drove hard at Kumble but found only Tendulkar at short mid-wicket.

From then on Kamran Akmal, promoted to opener in Shoaib Malik's absence, and Younis Khan, cemented the home side's position. Akmal unleashed several signature full-blooded cover drives, while Younis, the quicker scorer of the two took the attack to the spinners. By the end of the day, Inzamam's team sat squatly atop a mountain of runs, with the Indians also content to let the match meander into the mutual safety of a stalemate.

Although India were still 147 runs adrift of the Pakistani first innings total at the beginning of the day, MS Dhoni, receiving valuable support from the rising star of Irfan Pathan, quickly eradicated the possibility of a Pakistan victory. Dhoni, who had completed a maiden Test hundred the previous evening, was soon into his pugnacious, bowler-bashing rhythm. Cracking 18 off Shoaib's first over, the keeper-batsman tore into the Pakistan attack, adding a further 50 runs in 10.4 overs with Pathan, until a hot-headed stampede down the track left him stranded on 148. Pathan himself then came to the fore, combining with Kumble to take the score to 529 before being trapped leg before by a toiling Abdul Razzaq.

Harbhajan Singh then provided the fuel to drag India past the Pakistani score, smashing five fours and two sixes in a cameo 38, while Zaheer Khan hit a solitary maximum in his innings of 20 not out. Shahid Afridi provided the only moment of real celebration for the fielding side with a remarkable one-handed return catch to dismiss RP Singh.

Already, as they did in Lahore, heads turn to the final Test in Karachi as the media circus travels south in hope of fresh life into the series. With neither side able to claim any real advantage in either batting or bowling form, such has been the inadequacy of the featherbed playing surfaces, one hopes to see a emerald-tinged wicket or a crumbling death track - if only to dilute the vast quantities of meaningless runs.

Pakistan 588 all out (136.2) and 152 for one (43)
Kamran Akmal 59, Younis Khan 64

India 603 all out (165.4)
Rahul Dravid 103, VVS Laxman 90, MS Dhoni 148, Irfan Pathan 90; Danish Kaneria 3 for 165

Just a quick sidetrack: I was searching google videos and I came up with one of Pakistani cricket propaganda. Whilst watching this video I saw a truly amazing clip of Wasim Akram, so click on the link and go to 1 minute on the timer.

I wonder why there are video clips ONLY from old matches ??? Is it that Pak fans no longer take pride from their team's current performance?:-O

*Just a thought*

I swear man, brillant cricketing video, i dont care that pakistan is playing against india atm, but just think for a moment, if you could just have for a moment an india-pakistan team...Now would that be great or what? And i swear i will never tire of watching those reverse swinging yorkers from the pakistani bowlers utterly flumoxing and bowling everyone. Though i must say a disproportiante number of dismissals in that video were indian :p. Now if india could just produce such bowlers.*sigh*

IF anyone says we've got bowlers like that already there's going to be a fight

Or even better play the two rivalries against each other, India-Pakistan Against Australia-England

check this out, indian fielding at its best

No, seriously, some great indian fielding :p
So much more exciting than that Pakistan video posted earlier. All that one had was a whole bunch of reverse swinging yorkers and conventional sixes over long-on/midwicket. Funny how 80% of this video is Yuvraj and Kaif ... at least now Raina and Gambhir are in their class and the rest are getting better.

I have to admit that that Pakistani video was superb.Although it mainly was about several yorkers, but those yorkers were absolute breathtaking. No matter how many times i watch those yorkers, i never get tired or watching them.
Imran, Akram and Waq-e-dead were real class act!!!!
