Aha! So finally you agree Bradman is overrated!

Did I have a choice in the face of such scientific evidence presented by such eloquent figures of authority :)

BTW, what a waste of time this series.
Absolutely. With the first test I slept through the match and asked my wife to wake me up when Imran and Nasser came back with straight drive. Now with Rameez Raja and his non sense(Boycott chuckling in the background) and Sanjay Manjrekar interrupting Boycott as he never dared to do with the other too, even Straight Drive has become useless.

Its amazing that every former Pakistani cricketer, Imran, Mudassar, Rameez, Abdul Qadir, Aaqib Javed is stating without any reservation that these wickets are such because Inzy wanted them like this and Inzy and Woolmer keep denying anything to do with them.

Imran mentioned an interesting story from the past. It seems that when the Indian team was returning to Pakistan after many many years for the first time in the 70's, Imran wanted grass on the wicket since India had nothing but great spinners in their bowling. It seems that other seniors in the side would have nothing of it and wanted every blade of grass removed and wickets rolled to perfection lest the spinners managed to deviate the ball DUE TO the blades of grass !! :)

IRFAN PATHAN

- A batting average of 47.0 in his last 7 test matches (376 runs in 8 innings)
- with two nineties, one eighty odd and a fifty besides a useful 27 and another 32 in 8 innings.

- How does it matter if we consider him a pure bowler and not an all rounder ? Its good enough for India.
We wont exchange him for Abdul Razzaq and I thought he was some sort of an all rounder.

MAHENDRA DHONI

- A test batting average of 58.6
- A strike rate of 91.0
- Innings of 30, 5 & 51, 49 & 14 and 144 in the only 4 tests in which he has batted.

Besides...

- An average in one dayers of 45.7
- A strike rate of 103.6

Who cares if we think Adam Gilchrist is better than him? He will jolly well do for India.

We wont exchange him for Kamran Akmal and he can bat, right ?

Looks like the sardar Ji has finally realised the true worth of India's finest talent!

Cowards!

Enough is enough, if Pak is frightened of facing India's bowling attack on sporting pitches then they shouldn't be allowed to take on India on unsporting home turf. Either India should soley host Indo-Pak matches, or Indian curators should have a say on the preparation of wkts in Pakistan (if matches are atall to be played in Pak).

The cap/caoch duo of Inzi/Woolmer must be the most booring and disgraceful ever, with their negative antics they are just killing cricket.

I have to admit that that Pakistani video was superb.Although it mainly was about several yorkers, but those yorkers were absolute breathtaking. No matter how many times i watch those yorkers, i never get tired or watching them.
Imran, Akram and Waq-e-dead were real class act!!!!
ya those yorkers were definitely special ... if only they came from the hands of irfan and zaheer instead

Well Inzi said that he instructed the curator to prepare pitches similar to those against England, the rest is just speculation - I doubt he would lie..

If this post is facetious, then it's one of the funniest I've ever read. If it's not facetious, then it it's one of the funniest I've ever read.

Some eminent worthies have claimed Lillee as being highly over rated on the strength of his bowling analysis in the 1980 tour of Pakistan when Pakistan made a spinners paradise for the first test and batsmens paradises for the next two.

Lillee ended the series with just 3 wickets for 303 runs in 102 overs !

I wonder if people , after seeing the current series and also what the worlds fastest bowler has been reduced to, will change their minds. I doubt it since some people are born with blinkers :)

There are some very interesting stats from that series.

In the first test on the spinning track, Pakistani spinners, Qasim and Tausif, bowled over 60 of the 95 overs to bundle out Australia. Australia bowled Ray Bright for 47 overs and Greg Chappell for 20 !!! but still had to bowl Lillee for 28 overs of fast bowling (none for 76)

Pakistani opener, Taslim Arif, averaged 100 + with the bat including a double century "against the over-rated Lillee"(ended his career with 65 +) but wasnt good enough to play more than 6 tests in his entire career by Pakistan which included the three tests of this series !!!

In the second test which ended when only two wickets had fallen (for 382) in Pakistans first innings (Australia had scored 617 in theirs), Australia were reduced to bowling all the eleven players including Marsh for 10 overs.

In the next game Pakistan used nine bowlers in the firsat innings and ten in the second including wicket keeper Taslim Arif !!

Wonder why Azmat Rana did not bowl for Pakistan. I think he was happy to retire with an impressive batting average of 49 achieved through his first innings 49 runs in this test. Pakistan did not consider a debut score of 49 against the Aussies good enough for a second chance !!

Looks like bad weather not allowing curators to provide 'sporting' wickets is an old problem

As of this morning (before play started), four players on the Indian side and five on the Pakistani side have their averages in three figures in this series ! WOW !

Batting :
Dravid 241, Dhoni 148, Sehwag 142.5, Younis Khan 179, Afridi 129.5, Mohammad Yousuf 123.
Laxman, Pathan and Akmal in the nineties just missed it.

Bowling :
Pathan 144.5, Akhtar 146, Asif 103

Naved Rana 94 missed the coveted mark

Field day for statisticians.

I'm sorry.

I meant no disrespect, it was purely unintentional.

This really is a shame, what could have been a cracker of a series has basically been reduced to a one off test (as far as results go)

Sarfraz in city to inspect NSK wicket

From our correspondent

FAISALABAD: Former Test pacer Sarfraz Nawaz made a surprise visit to the National Stadium (NSK) in Karachi on Tuesday, to have a look at the pitch being finalised for the third and final Test against India and found it to be hard with a liberal covering of grass on the surface.

According to details, Sarfraz who recently worked with pacer Shabbir Ahmed to improve his bowling action on an assignment from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) visited the stadium and asked groundsman Haji Bashir about the pitch and was told it had at least half an inch of grass on it and would play much more positively than the pitches prepared for the first two Tests that have been dominated by the batsmen.

Sources said chief curator of the board, Agha Zahid, didn’t speak to Sarfraz at all who had a close look at the pitch, which has gained in significance after the high scoring and dull Tests in Lahore and Faisalabad.

"Before leaving Sarfraz was heard telling Bashir that when the pitch was so well prepared what was the necessity for him and Zahid to come to Karachi and unnecessarily tamper with a good Test track and were they just there to make daily allowances," a source stated.

However, how much grass is allowed to remain on the track after the arrival of the Pakistan team in Karachi on Thursday will be interesting to see.

Mystery surrounds as to who had the final word in the preparation of the pitches for the first two Tests which have left the bowlers frustrated and upset

It looks to me that the job of the curators right now is to make sure that the wkt for the test match should be a placcid one, much to the like of Pak captain.

What a shame, they are now tampering pitches, ICC should really do something and put a halt to all this maddness:@
