I know Munaf is not there in the squad, the selectors being the chickens we know them to be. That's why I mentioned the series against England. He's definitely the best choice as the fifth bowler, since he also scores runs– at a good strike rate.pug said:Munaf Patel is not in context for this series and is in no way a solution to any problem right now. Of course, it would have been better to go on all along with a 5 bowler, 5 batsmen, 1 wk lineup but why must you bring in the issue of Munaf Patel now since it will not be happening? Well, you can hope he will be sent to join the team for the third test, but I'm afraid you'll only be dissapointed.
My point is whatever change is made with the lineup, it should be made for the right reasons. Replacing Yuvraj to get in a bowler while ganguly remains in the side as a middle order batsman is fundamentally wrong in my opinion as it gives the statement that Ganguly deserves a place as a batsman before Yuvraj. But since Ganguly's got to make his final statement, I'll grant him that much (anyway, doesn't matter if I grant or not since the team management most likely will).
p.s. Why, oh, why, did those jokers drop Joginder Sharma so soon?
