What an incredible comeback! Back when Pak were 6 down, I turned off the TV in deep depression and went to sleep. I wake up to check the score and wow!!

he definitely is, except he's not far better than pathan.
He just scored his third hundred in his last four Tests (this one in really tough circumstances) and he scored two ODI hundreds in his last 4 innings. Sorry but he *is* that much better than Pathan.

Good to see he's going to plan and proving my prediction a couple of months ago that he'll be in the top 10 batsmen soon. :)

Hs customary style is to get bowled by practically unplayable deliveries?
I know it's going to sound a little odd, but yes.

He seems to get bowled by absolute jaffers on a regular basis. Not entirely his fault of course, but its something I've noticed.

I wasnt worried!!! If there is one situation Pak are used to ..it is collapsed batting and pressure on bowlers to perform..Shoaib bowled beautifully..Hope we can pick up Gangs and Yuvraj quickly.... Match On!!

I didnt see the hat-trick by Pathan but well done to him..

Result in 3 days anyone?

it was a great delivery no doubt but i think he played it with uncertainity had he been a bit more certain.. i mean had he played that shot with a little more positive foot work things would have been different but a great delivery no doubt.. he left a big gap between his bat and pad and that did all the damage...
result on day three is very unlikely... but at this moment Pakistan has a slight advantage because the in form indian batsmen are out and gangully and yuvraj are not great players of fast bowling ... esp when the ball is moving .. first hour very very critical..

So here are Razzak and Akmal at the crease with Pakistan in dire position, just like last year in India. I fear that they will not be able to repeat their feats from that game.
you were wrong. :)

That is better than getting out to nothing balls which a few other batters from our part of the world regularly do. ;)

Of course he is better than Pathan, but not by far, which was what the original poster said and I guess that is what adharcric was trying to point out.

Anyways, I don't think he would be batting at 8 for too much longer. I think he will move to 6 when Pak go to England. So, this argument is basically unnecessary.

Even then, Razzaq (who would become #8 if Akmal moved to #6) is most certainly a better batsman than Pathan anyway.

of course. But I think you guys are judging Pathan too early. Razzaq has been around for a long time. Pathan has only been around for a couple of years. Who knows how good a batter he will turn out to be. And honestly, on CURRENT form, I would still take Pathan over Razzaq.

I think both sides had their moments of daft batting.

Butt -Good delivery, didn't do too much wrong
Younis - Good ball, but did get into a tangle with his footwork
Yousuf - Daft shot
Iqbal - Misjudged the line of the ball, can't be faulted too much as Zaheer doesn't get too much inswing normally.
Afridi - daft shot, but that is how he plays. It is always a double edged sword.
Razzaq - Is a bit of a LBW candidate, but can't be faulted too much as this technique allows him to play late.
Akhtar - slogged because he had Kaneria at the other end
Asif - Looked clueless with the bat

Dravid - Very good delivery, can't be faulted really.
Sehwag - Daft shot, but that is how he plays, like Afridi.
VVS - Brilliant ball. Didn't do too much wrong
Sachin - Very daft shot. He was in and he was set and playing that kind of an airy fairy drive with almost no footwork was just so unlike him.

Well done to Pakistan. Tremendous fightback. No better opportunity than this for Ganguly to do his stuff..

I still dont believe this, when i said greentop for Karachi, I hardly meant it :p :p, but finally some good cricket, and something that actually makes you want to turn on the tv, and actually be interested in the match. Did anyone of you see the greentop coming?

On other matters , damn good hattrick by pathan, has regained his pace or is still bowling in the mid 120s?. Although i must say, Kamran Akmal is beggining to get on my nerves just as much as Gilchrist did, when australia were here. And Shoaib Akhtar 45? on a freaking green top? What the hell is that?. But anyway, heres to hoping that we get more out of this test match then a bore draw.

I cant understand why are the Indian fans out here getting so negative. Man, its only 74/4 and we have been through worser situations than this and still won the match. remember, Pakistan were 39/6. Also, remember that Dhoni and Irfan Pathan are yet to come and both have played well for India with the bat in the recent past and that too in pressure situations. Anyone remember even the last test matchs 210-run match saving partnership between Dhoni and Pathan to take India to 491/5 from a hopeless situation at 281/5.

Also, we still have Yuvraj Singh yet to come and whenever he comes, his 129 ball 112 run knock of the last series, always comes to mind. Yuvraj, achieved that when Umar Gul, had taken a 5-fer and Yuvraj, alongwith Pathan, did the recovery job for India with Pathan, scoring 49 runs.

And, not to forget Ganguly, who will be the most desperate of all to prove a point or 2. Recently, he hasnt had enough chances and has been in and out of the team. He will be looking for a big knock, preferably a 100, to silence his critics at this stage. Ganguly, will be looking to regain his lost form. Ganguly, when in full flow, goes for the big shots, but then at this situation, even a 150-ball 50 will be good enough to take India out of trouble.

Anyways, the match is very evenly poised at this stage, however, India, does seem to have a slight advantage as the Indian bowlers will be high on confidence which is sure to reflect in their batting.
