I've not been following this game at all since I just came back from a weekend away, but how come Ganguly came on first change, but then ended up bowling only 6 overs!?

That being said, I do think AA has to go in test cricket, but Zaheer wouldn't have made too much of a difference. I do think he would have been more threatening with the new ball though, and that would have been useful.
I am not a big fan of AA but I doubt if Zaheer would have made any difference. He should be thanking his stars he was not in the side in my opinion. This track would have killed his comeback bid.

Now we have had a very defensive declared- drawn-contrived Aus v SAF series and it look as though this is once again going to be the same in Pakistan.
The series 2-0, with SA matching Australia for long periods - how is that such a bad thing?

There's nothing anyone can do about the rains, but the Indians should have stayd on despite the bad light. They had a superior pace attack under the hammer and looked in good nick. By walking off due to bad light, it just exposes insecurity and fear of losing, which you will never find in teams that win Test series. The English were scoring at a rate of knots against the South Africans in Headingley in 2003, until the in-form Trescothick took the light. He was out shortly afterward and the English lost that match. Do you see the Australians walking off when going strong? That's what you find in the best team in the game. Even the Indians had the English under the hammer in one match a year before, and stayed on despite bad light.
And as for AA bowling poorly we can clearly see that nobody has bowled well so you cannot lay to much blame to AA
While Kumble and Harbhajan are India's best bowlers no matter where they play, Irfan has a second skill so his selection is a value addition. You can't say any of these about Agarkar, who just made up the numbers. Yet another opportunity was squandered by him.

Didn't they take the light in the 5th test of the Ashes at the Oval? To my knowledge they were fairly on top there two.

Being 530 runs behind CAN NOT be called GOING STRONG !!

No one, not even Australians are stupid enough to stay put if offered the light by the umpires in such a situation.

This is not about bravado. India CANT win the test but they can , STILL CAN, lose this test.

The ICC rules are stupid and batsmen who are scoring at 5 runs an over are in no danger of being hurt and should not be offered the light in my opinion.

BUT..

... if they are offered, they have to be out of their minds not to accept it.

Criticising them for this is...well...what to say...

Umm In India if the Indians prepared a similar wicket instead of traditional wickets to help Kumble and Harbhajan, same reactions would come up. Doesnt prove India or Pakistan is the better team.
I know I was being sarcastic.

Put them in the same situation and you'd be wise not to stand in their way as they ran straight over you to get to the dressing-room.

They did it TWICE at the Oval - and that was a match they had a chance of winning - and needed to win, of course.
