***Official*** India in Pakistan

Thanks. So so far they are above the rate required though batting might become difficult on day 4 and 5.

Incidentally the linked test is fascinating. The West Indies scored just 276 in the first innings but managed to score 616 in the second to set up a good target of 360. Remarkably there were only three hundreds in the entire match with a highest of 118. Pakistan has already scored more hundreds in their first innings. The test also had a great finish with Australia starting off very well at one point being 185/1. However they lost 6 wickets for 29 runs and ended up just 21 short with one wicket still in hand. I doubt this current test is going to be half as interesting whichever way it goes.

Snap - the only Indian bowler I took.

Also my 3 Pakistani "batsmen" were Khan, Afridi and Akmal :D

I think Pakistan would enforce the follow-on only if India is somewhere arnd 400 runs behind (highly unlikely).
I'd say it depends on how the pitch is looking - they need to give themselves maximum chance of taking 20 wickets - but I doubt they'd have any 2nd thoughts of making them follow on if there's any lead over 275.

Ganguly !!

:@
This is ridiculous. I am amazed at how inane the media is. Dravid opening ! anycone can see that BOTh openers were dropped because Ganguly used all his guile and connections to get picked. This is what Ravi Shastri said (excerpted) and I could not have said it better:

No place for Ganguly in XI: Shastri
Press Trust Of India

New Delhi: Former Indian captain Ravi Shastri described the Indian think tank's decision to include Sourav Ganguly as a weak one and criticised the management for including the left-hander in the playing XI.

Asked about the reason he thought as to why Sourav was selected Shastri said," That's a team management's decision. If you ask me for my choice, he would not have fitted into my XI. I think it's a weak decision."

"I think its short sighted and if you are looking into the future of Indian cricket, I don't think this is a wise decision as well. Because, if he is going to open the innings, what have you taken three specialist openers there for?"

"If Sourav Ganguly should have played in the side, he should have replaced Tendulkar,Dravid, Yuvraj singh or Laxman. Tell me who will you drop amongst these?"

india can't win this match and hopefully they won't try anything too stupid, good start by the team leadership combine but indians have a herculean task ahead of them just to avoid the follow-on...

The first two on that list were timeless tests though. Rather weird games incidentally. In the first one England needed 696 to win and managed to score 654 for 5 before a draw was agreed. I am not sure why and it would have been a hell of a record if they had won the game. In the second game the West Indies needed 836 to win and were 408 for 5 when a draw was agreed ; again a pretty strange decision on the part of England.

Ha ha. Deano says some wacky stuff too. He said that whoever wins this series will be, in his mind, the #2 side in the world, which is far too prematue. Not to mention other crazy comments. He's funny, but no 'expert opinion' I'll tell you that.

I think Sanjay fits perfectly with Imran and Nasser on the panel. You need a host, and he does the job pretty well.

But you're right, this panel RUELS! Nasser + Imran as expert comments is absolutely awesome.
it was soo funny when afridi n akmal were hitting out deeno said dravid shuould just pull out his hanky and say thats it wev had enough we declare :D

HAHAHAH! Afridi rules so much. His interview with Ramjiz Raja was hilarious. Apparently he just walked up to Kamran Akmal in between overs and said "I'm going to try and hit six 6s off this next over". Kamran just replied "Good luck" and Afridi said "Okay thankyou..."

Then when Afridi was asked whether the Indian bowlers were afraid of him, he talked about how the pitch was very easy and stuff, and then replied with a smile "Maybe".

Lol what a champion. Nasser's reaction when he heard the interview was great. "I sometimes go to my partner and say I'm going to try and hit a 4 this over... he wants six 6s. He's on another world."
yup that was a gem of an inteview :D
was it arun lal that first came up with boom boom afridi ?
that term is getting quite popular

Well India has made a great start, Dravid is playing well and Sehwag is asusual brilliant. They still need 414 to avoid the follow-on, but i think they will do that with ease since the wkt is totally lifeless.

This is a drawn match and the only thing that remains to be seen is the possible tons by Dravid,Sehwag (i hope he make a double ton),Tendulkar and Yuvraj.

Someone made a good point on BBCsports that each of India's top eight batsmen are capable of scoring a ton on such a placcid wkt.

I hope Dravid sens Dhoni early so that he breaks the record of fastest hundred by a wk , you never know, he might even break the record of fastest hundred in a test match

The only way to discourage PCB in making dead track and to opt for "sporting pitches" is either direct pressure from ICC or if Sehwag punishes Pak bowlers and come up with another 300 + figure!!

Indian batsmen should really punish Pak bowlers and make a mockery of their so called fast bowling attack, if they do that (which i'm sure they will) then we will see sporting wkts in the remaining two test matches which will help the better team in India to win the series.
