***Official*** India in Pakistan

Pitch is pretty flat and even. No movement off the seam, only a little swing from AA and Pathan. Is definitely a batting track. Any wickets which India can get in this first morning session whilst the ball is moving around with favourable conditions will be crucial.

Pathan is bowling well to Malik right now.

Ten minutes into the game and Yuvraj provides justification for being in the side.

As for the opening. A lot has been done to get Ganguly into this side. Okay. But dont compound it further by sacrificing your best batsman (Dravid) by making him open the innings. If Dravid takes that decision I would not call it a captain leading from the front but Captain shirking his responsibility and allowing himself into being pressurised to take decisions clearly not in the interest of the team.

Ganguly opening is not the ideal situation but if he had to be in the side at the cost of a batsman, that had to be the batsman least sure of a place in the side and this was a toss up between Gambhir and Jaffer. Not great but this is what happens when we refuse to take the broom and clean up our own mess.

AND Ganguly might still surprise us at the top !!

What a royal mess. Nasser Hussain just couldnt stop smiling and shaking his head in bewilderment as he looked at the Indian team and the order in which the names were listed. Cant blame him. Anyone who knows the game and is unbiased would react the same way.

* makes a note to cross fingers and toes just before India commence their innings*

No Sanz, we'll discuss what we like.

I agree SJS, Hussain's reaction was quite humorous, because it showed just how crazy the selection process was.

I wonder if Ganguly will get a trundle this morning as first change.

He just might. And again he may surprise us. He does swing the ball in and pitches it up and a batsman who relaxes seeing Ganguly marking his run up could end up paying a price.

I remember him clean bowling Jaques Kallis last year after he made his ton. That was a sight to see :D

He also opened the bowling with Zaheer against SA in the previous game to that one.

EDIT: And here comes Ganguly, he's on to bowl.

It will be great if he got a couple of wickets. It would do his confidence a world of good and that should help him when he comes in to bat.

Frankly but for his problems against the short pitched deliveries (which will hound him irrespective of where he bats in the order), I think he is competent enough to play the new ball as far as pace and movement are concerned. He is not an opener in the sense that he is primarily a front foot player and a front foot stroke player at that, otherwise sheer pace or movement he would handle if in form.

Younis Khan obviously has learnt nothing from Butt's dismissal. Didn't even bother to ground his bat, and if Tendulkar had hit he would have been out.

ROFLMAO @ The ball boy falling over and injuring himself, and then Dean Jones telling him to get up and stop being a wimp.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA! Oh my. The boy is crying, and Deano was so insensitive. Hilarious. Poor bugger.

I would rather have Sourav open, Dravid is our best batsman and captain, dont want him taking extra pressure.

Xuhaib

International Coach
Younis looking very good (mashallah), started in the similar manner like he did in banglore
