As Good As It Gets

It just doesn't get any more exciting than this in the world of cricket. The fiercest rivals in the sport squaring off with everyone looking on in anticipation. Unlike the past two meetings, this time both teams are in roaring form and have been playing with professionalism traditionally uncharacteristic of India and Pakistan. You've got arguably the greatest modern-day batsman in Sachin Tendulkar ... arguably the most dangerous modern-day tearaway paceman in Shoaib Akhtar ... two captains who thrive under pressure and responsibility in Inzamam-ul-Haq and Rahul Dravid ... pyrotechnic freaks in Shahid Afridi and Mahendra Singh Dhoni ... a former class act fighting to salvage his pride and career in Sourav Ganguly ... the list is endless. Let's hope this turns out to be one hell of a battle between India and Pakistan.

The GREAT news is that the curator of Lahore pitch has discosed that the pitch is brownish and not green top atall, and is going to take turn from the third day!!!!!

Haha ... this practically means a huge advantage to team India , as with two spinners India will blast off Pak team on a turning wkt.

India 1-0 up at Lahore Stadium :)
I swear to God if you've jinxed India I'll come after you with a sharp piece of pointy plastic :-O (can't be a knife, I'm not that violent :p)

Inzy has won the toss and chosen to bat on what looks to be a batting track.

Pakistan have kept Shoaib Malik as their opener as well.

OH MY GOD!!!!

Gambhir and Jaffer are both not playing, and Ganguly will likely open. I'm about to explode out of anger.

LOL! I agree with Nasser Hussain... Indian batsman like Dravid and Ganguly have been around for ages and yet on the morning of the test match we don't know which positions they are going to be batting. How crazy.

Also, India have stuck with two spinners, Harbhajan and Kumble. At least some good news there. :)

I had a feeling this would happen. Well, now we should back our team and wish Ganguly all the best against Shoaib and co. !!!

Okay players are out and we're ready to go.

Hopefully India can get an early wicket, pariticularly Shoaib Malik who I think is a relatively weak opener and will likely play his shots from the word go. He'll give a chance or two no doubt.

yeah, but a lot depends on which AA shows up. I hope it is the one from Adelaide.

LOL! The Adelaide AA was great. :D

The one with a test bowling average of 46 isn't though. ;)

I don't think it is a certainity that Dravid will open.
I'd rather Dravid open than Ganguly, and I'd rather Ganguly open than Yuvraj (let's hope we never seen him thrown to the wolves as opener again).

Maybe it was just a ploy to throw Sourav into the deep end. If he succeeds against Akhtar and co with the new ball, then it is clear he still has something to offer to the side. If he does not, then maybe it is time for him to be dropped. IF this selection was based on cricketing sense, I think his decent seam up bowling might have played a part. Dravid might have felt that Sourav's medium pace gives him at least half a third seamer in case India lose the toss, as has happened now.

But that "if" is a BIG IF though. :(
