he did his job...now it's upto the other batsmen to consolidate....irfan said:Damn it pathan wen will u go on
Sending in Dravid or Kaif would've slowed down the run rate and reduced the pressure on the Pakistani bowlers created by Pathan's knock. Until we lose someone for a low score, we have to continue being aggressive.Anil said:why are they sending dhoni in at this point? it will reduce all the firepower we need down the order....hopefully he will fire here....
they could still have chugged along at 5 to 5.5 an over without taking too many risks and then we would have had yuvraj and dhoni at the end to accelerate....neither of them needs too much time to get their eye in which explains their utility in the end overs....anyway what's done is done...hopefully dhoni can impress at the top of the order....adharcric said:Sending in Dravid or Kaif would've slowed down the run rate and reduced the pressure on the Pakistani bowlers created by Pathan's knock. Without a doubt. Anyone that doubted Pathan's batting ability in the past has conveniently stopped claiming that or just disappeared. He's an allrounder, who needs to improve on his bowling, and continues to improve with the bat. As far as I'm concerned he counts as a batsman in the team along with Sachin, Sehwag, Dravid, Kaif, Yuvraj and Dhoni.Anil said:at this point, pathan has played too many valuable innings to continue being classified as a bowler who can bat a bit.....in fact right now, his batting is proving to be more dependable for india than his bowling, his first over hattrick in karachi notwithstanding...
Pathan averaged 34.82 in ODIs with the bat in 2005. He's had one innings with the bat in 2006 just then, and scored 65 runs off 65 balls.marc71178 said:That's like comparing an apple with a spanner and concluding one is better than the other.
Its not over till its over man.Beleg said:Pakistan bowled brilliantly in the death overs - however, the game was already lost in the previous ten. I find it hard to believe Inzamam decided to continue with Afridi AFTER he had conceeded 20 odd runs from two overs. At that stage, an over from Arshad (or even Gul) would have been a much better choice. Inzy's failure at properly rotating his bowling options have cost Pakistan the crucial 30 runs that will make the difference.
Kudos to Asif for two excellent spells and Tendulkar on a well crafted century. (Both Dravid and Tendulkar got pretty unlucky with the decisions against them)
Its all over for Pakistan!Arumpnoo said:Its not over till its over man.
Yeah, right.nehrafan said:Pak cannot chase a target of 329 against Indian team, but still they should have made the right move by sending Afridi as an opener to get quick runs while chasing such a huge target.
Looks like deep down Pak knows that they have lost the match and aren't serious about it.
Congrats to Sachin, Dhoni and Pathan
. Pakistan has NEVER chased 329 runs against India, or even against any team for that matter(not sure about this one though).Steulen said:Yeah, right.
I predict this will be a very close match. India has a weak bowling attack.
Actually, make that: Pakistan favourites to win.
Upping the ante, are you?nehrafan said:. Pakistan has NEVER chased 329 runs against India, or even against any team for that matter(not sure about this one though).
And this Indian attack is a good one with 5 specialist bowlers and an allrounder!
Pak gonna lose, they might not get crushed but will certainly lose.
India 1 up
