why are they sending dhoni in at this point? it will reduce all the firepower we need down the order....hopefully he will fire here....

Sending in Dravid or Kaif would've slowed down the run rate and reduced the pressure on the Pakistani bowlers created by Pathan's knock. Until we lose someone for a low score, we have to continue being aggressive.

they could still have chugged along at 5 to 5.5 an over without taking too many risks and then we would have had yuvraj and dhoni at the end to accelerate....neither of them needs too much time to get their eye in which explains their utility in the end overs....anyway what's done is done...hopefully dhoni can impress at the top of the order....

What's that I hear? I think its, yes its Tendulkar, Pathan and Dhoni all scoring runs. :D

Mock all you like, it only fuels them :p

But seriously good start from India. Hopefully Sachin goes on to make a ton!

at this point, pathan has played too many valuable innings to continue being classified as a bowler who can bat a bit.....in fact right now, his batting is proving to be more dependable for india than his bowling, his first over hattrick in karachi notwithstanding...
Without a doubt. Anyone that doubted Pathan's batting ability in the past has conveniently stopped claiming that or just disappeared. He's an allrounder, who needs to improve on his bowling, and continues to improve with the bat. As far as I'm concerned he counts as a batsman in the team along with Sachin, Sehwag, Dravid, Kaif, Yuvraj and Dhoni.

That's like comparing an apple with a spanner and concluding one is better than the other.
Pathan averaged 34.82 in ODIs with the bat in 2005. He's had one innings with the bat in 2006 just then, and scored 65 runs off 65 balls.

He averaged 31.82 with the bat in tests with the bat in 2005. He's averaging 44.67 with the bat in 2006.

Its a very fair comparison for someone that has actually been watching Pathan bat, and doesn't have a skewed opinion of him just because he and some other long serving members who like to have knee-jerk reactions to Indian fans praising their players stated that Pathan can't bat. Wow whoever said that surely looks stupid now don't they?

Amazing batting by India, never seen Pathan batting like this before. Always thought he is just a bowler but I completely agrees he is an allrounder. Haven't seen him during Srilanka series as I am a Pakistani Fan. Dhoni, no words, batted really well and damn Sachin is back. Anyways about Pakistan, disappointed with Gul. When he came on scene he was God send. He remained out of team for almost two years due to injury. Hope he will come back sometime again with his old sting. Rana is good. Asif, man he is as mature of a bowler as no one I have seen so early in a career. Man, I missed Shoaib today. Fielding was good and nothing else to write about. Game is on, I don't mind India winning but want Pakistan to put a good fight. I hope and believe they will. Bottom line, India came back strong after the test series loss and should commended for it. Oh yeah, one last thing, thank God Pakistani fielding has improved by miles in one day and hope they can do something about no balls. Man Shoaib Malik took a stunner, awesome catch.

Finally man, finally, Indian inning to an end. Man we are took to cleaners today by Indian batting. Hoping Pakistan can put a good fight chasing 329 as they have a mountain to climb.

Pakistan fought back well there at the end. Honestly how good is Mohammad Asid? The opposition scores 300+ and he goes for 3.1 an over and gets 3 wickets. Brilliant. The last 5-6 overs should have gone for more. Kaif batted far too low again, and couldn't smack any boundaries at the death. Dhoni and Pathan coming in at 3 and 4 was fine, but I think Kaif should have come in front of Yuvraj.

None the less, fantastic ton from Sachin and tremendous 50s from Pathan and Dhoni. Tremendous batting by India and hopefully they'll be able to defend 328, which they should be able to do.

Interesting bowling line-up for India though. AA, Sree Santh, Zaheer, Pathan and Kartik.

Pakistan bowled brilliantly in the death overs - however, the game was already lost in the previous ten. I find it hard to believe Inzamam decided to continue with Afridi AFTER he had conceeded 20 odd runs from two overs. At that stage, an over from Arshad (or even Gul) would have been a much better choice. Inzy's failure at properly rotating his bowling options have cost Pakistan the crucial 30 runs that will make the difference.

Kudos to Asif for two excellent spells and Tendulkar on a well crafted century. (Both Dravid and Tendulkar got pretty unlucky with the decisions against them)

There was someone here who is Pittsburg fan, Congras Man. Well deserved win for Pittsburg and yeah man I love to see Kalamalu in action (Pardon my spelling). Can't see you on the board, think you are partying your *** off in Pittsburg. I in a Houston Texan's fan till last season and you know why I haven't seen much of their games this season. LOL. Anyways, Congras man, winning all play off games on the road, awesome.

Pak cannot chase a target of 329 against Indian team, but still they should have made the right move by sending Afridi as an opener to get quick runs while chasing such a huge target.

Looks like deep down Pak knows that they have lost the match and aren't serious about it.

Congrats to Sachin, Dhoni and Pathan:)

Yeah, right.

I predict this will be a very close match. India has a weak bowling attack.

Actually, make that: Pakistan favourites to win.

   . Pakistan has NEVER chased 329 runs against India, or even against any team for that matter(not sure about this one though).

And this Indian attack is a good one with 5 specialist bowlers and an allrounder!

Pak gonna lose, they might not get crushed but will certainly lose.

India 1 up:)
