*Official* India in Pakistan Thread

If you look at how Laxman almost got out, then actually got out, then Kaif's dismissal, then Pathan's dismissal- uh well, no-balled, then a big shot that fell short, you do get an idea that the Indians can't hit sixes very well, don't you? This area needs a great deal of work, if they have to win more ODI matches, or press for victory in Tests.

Anyway, Pathan and Balaji are in good batting form. If the Indians can do something in the ODI series after this, or even the coming Test series, they can use Pathan's, Balaji's and especially Powar's batting a lot more. Perhaps 6/7/8 will do. No point batting them at 9/10/11. You can even open the batting with Pathan, he has the technique and temperament, and given Chopra's lack of runs, and just abotu anyone and everyone succeeding as a limited-overs opener, it's not a bad idea.

I'm not sure if I am misunderstanding you, but are you suggesting we should have Pathan opening in tests in replacement of Chopra?

I'm a big follower of Ganguly, big follower. So no I'm not one of "them" who you are referring to. There's plenty of "them" around these boards and I disagree with their views. Nothing more needs to be said regarding that. He just played a bad shot to go out at an unncessary time.
OK.

There's never a good time to concede a wicket, of course. I thought that, at the time, Ganguly was playing the perfect innings to VVS Laxman's more dynamic knock, rotating the strike well.

It always looks bad to me when a player gets out running the ball down to third man (as was the case with Tendulkar too), but that's because I can remember the days before the ODI - and commentators used to go nuts when players got out in a similar manner in test matches.

Now it happens all the time.

Perfectly understandable, I did sound like I was 'blaming' Ganguly however I was just stating how if he was still there, he would of been much better at the slog than Laxman. When Ganguly is in full flow, his sixes are amazing.

Balaji gets Hameed, Pathan gets Youhana. BIG WICKETS! 2 down.

"Tv replays shows that Youhana got an inside edge on to his pad, so the umpire got it wrong and Youhana should consider himself unlucky"

Ouch, rough.

ganguly is such crappy player! can someone teach him to field.also he should be demoted to no 8 or 7 when batting bring balaji and pathan up.

Well, yes I do - with Taufeeq and Hameed, Youhana, Inzi, Malik, Moin, Afridi and Razzaq, I think that is good enough.
Looks a batsman light to me - Malik at 5 is 1 too high IMO.

I read it like that as well - very strange one.

Ganguly 9309 runs @ 42.12
Balaji 60 @ 15.00
Pathan 121 @ 24.20

I can see your point.

In fact 7 or 8 is probably too high for him - drop him to number 11

Ganguly injured and leaves the field.

What's the betting he'll get the flak if they end up losing this one?

If I put the order properly, I'd probably have Razzaq at 5, Moin at 6, Malik at 7 and Afridi at 8.

It is slightly light on batting but in comparison to the current alternative - Younis Khan it's not too much weaker than what they already have - plus Afridi is a special fielder and a handy bowler, because only 5 bowling options isn't always going to work.

Holy crap! I read a stretcher was needed to get Ganguly off the field. That sounds serious :(

he probably injured himself doing the not required monkey stunt he was doing after diving which was pretty good dive by the way considering his standard.

p.s he has already done misfielding in this game.

Moin and Sami are having a go...it's still not over yet....india's best bowlers of the day have completed their 10 overs....if they pull this out of the hat, it will be one of the most incredible one day wins ever...c'mon India you can do it.......

Think Shoaib may have helped seal Pakistan's fate with some shocking cricket.

Failing to ground your bat when you are running a quick single is a schoolboy error.

'Failing to ground your bat when you are running a quick single is a schoolboy error.'

he did ground his bat, just didn't run into the crease cos he was scared of the ball.

Poor shoaib, scared of the ball when it is thrown at him; now he knows how all the batsmen facing him feel like :P

Bloody good throw by yuvraj as well.

did i mention, YAY india won!!!!
