It was an ordinary shot. 39 of 41. Scored quickly enough but I wonder whether going after the bowlers at this stage was a good decision.

Let's see how Yuvraj fares.

willow.tv (dishnetwork) went off air after that damn plane flew over stadium. this is very poor coverage of game compared to vb series, if anyone is thinking of buying package dont do it it is not worth it.

For once Razzaq's RPO is less then 5. Barely.
Dravid is the key and Indian tail has got to work.
They shouldn't have taken Shabbir out of the attack.
Dravid is batting nicely.
That being said Razzaq just bowled a fine off-cutter which had Dravid in all sorts of trouble.
This pitch is doing just a tad bit too much for an ODI, IMO.

A bitter disadvantage of watching PTV is that the commentry stinks.
With Sarfraz 'Ghora' and Hasan 'never-speak-your-mind' Jaleel that's to be expected though.

In your personal opinion what do you think is a good score on this pitch. I unfortunately am just following on cricinfo so I am unclear to what the pitch is doing, but could Pathan danger the Pakistani's on this pitch? Would 240 be enough?

And :( at Dravid going out.

Juno posts,

I think 240 is a very good score. As for enough I really can't say. And as the situation stands, India will have trouble reaching it.
Dean Jones saying that the lateral movement offered by the pitch will be here throughout the day; even during the second innings.
The pitch is doing plenty, offering up a lot of bounce. Specially for Shabbir. I don't think Irfan Pathan is very tall, from what I saw of him in the practise match [And that was precious little, It would be wrong to assume anything about his capabilities based on it] he seems to me to be Sami's height, who probably got the least of the pitch of all bowlers.
Zaheer Khan will be a bigger danger IMO, because the ball will seam and I have allready seen it reversing of Razzaq's bowling.
If the Indian lefties are successful in bringing the bowl in to the right hander's consistantly enough, then there's going to be trouble for Pakistanies.
A leg spinner has a better chance on this wicket then an offie or a leftie Orthodox.
The pitch isn't doing anything really extravagant, apart from for Shabbir though.

It seems that the air of fervant goodwill and franternity mightn't last long and It won't be Ganguly who would spoil it.
The first verbal spat betwene Yuvraj and Sami took place moments ago.
Powar is playing very nicely. He seems to have a solid stance, and looks like a far fiercer version of Taibu to me.
That being said, Sami reminded him of his place by plunging a well directed bouncer towards his neck.
The boy has got some grit, the next ball he swings his bats in wildy at a ball marginally outside off stump and off goes the edge towards the third man boundary.
Yuvraj scopped a ball high earlier to Razzaq but unfortunately or [Fortunately] it fell just short of the fielder.

A terrible piece of umpiring.

The only excuse the umpire has for the unjust decision against Powar is the split second time period. But even then this is no excuse. Whatever Manjraker says, the impact was clearly outside the off stump and I remember Ganguly being given the benefit of doubt on more then one occasion on the bowling of the same bowler.
Powar has been harddone.:!(
He is a very good talent though, and he could mature into a fine batsman. And he has got some grit.

Great innings by Yuvraj, he steered India to 244 which is a good score considering what they looked like getting when Dravid and Kaif fell. Sami went for 71 runs in this match, the young guy may have potential but he oozes of inconsistency. Giving away 71 runs when the opposition scored less than 250 is unacceptable.

Game on, and if the Indians can rip through the Pakistan top order they may have a chance, it all rests in the bowlers hands now. They must step up.

245 to win for Pakistan. I think it's a fighting total as long as Afridi doesn't get stuck into the Indian bowling. This is Zaheer's chance to make up for some of his insipid bowling in the first two matches.

Notwithstanding Shabbir's 10-0-33-3 (credit due as much to Akhtar as to Shabbir), I thought Shoaib Malik was Pakistan's best bowler. It was intriguing to watch his duel with Yuvraj in the final few overs, and I think Yuvraj would agree that he was done by the excellent variations in flight and pace that the lad showed. I think he's turning out to be a wonderful all-rounder for the Pakistani team. He finished with 10-0-40-2, including the wickets of Dravid (going for a sweep, ball bounced more than expected, and a good catch by moin) and Powar.

For India, I think despite losing the plot a little bit in the beginning, we batted quite decently. I think there were some very ordinary strokes played (Laxman, Ganguly, Kaif) but it was a good fight back from the abysmal position of 37-3. Sehwag is Sehwag, and Tendulkar, well, is human.

Here's hoping India get their act together in the bowling department. (A few short balls to Afridi early in the innings wouldn't be a bad idea.)

that was really poor bowling by pakistan towards the end. akhtar and sami seemed to be focussing on the speedometer instead of getting the ball in the right place. to let a side go from 180/8 to 244 requires really really bad bowling and that is precisely what we saw today.
if the ball seams as much as it did for pakistan earlier in the innings i think the pakistanis are going to struggle.if the indian bowlers get their line right and dont bowl as many wides as shabbir did they have the game in the bad. i thought it was stupid of sami and akhtar to bowl so fast on a wicket like this...instead they could have tried slowing it down so that they could get more movement as shabbir got. i think the indian bowlers will get a lot more movement than the pakistani bowlers.

Good effort by Yuvraj and great knock by Balaji. 33 extras by **** bowlwres once again?? may cost them the match.
