Was skeptical about keeping Nicholls as our opener before this series started, but have to hand it to them, this actually seems like a nice solid opening pair.

Nicholls seems to be bringing out the best in Guptill, as well.

Why must Bruce Oxenford's arm protector look like that.

He looks like hes about to summon Exodia

Hesson really does dislike Neesham, doesn't he? He couldn't wait to sink the boot in there. I feel like it's gone beyond meme territory now.

Two tests in Bangladesh in Aug/Sept

I reckon Ross will play those, and the home summer, then let it go.

I don’t think he’s done yet, and I don’t think he’d want the two Bangers tests to be his last.

So play the World T20, play one more home summer where he can feast on some Windies and Pakistan bowling at familiar venues. Then retire having played 108 tests. And watching us not get into the WTC final...

But anyway, we sadly have hardly any cricket in our 2021 winter. So I don’t think he’ll then hang on for our 2021-22 home summer -
Currently 2 tests vs Bangladesh then 2 tests vs South Africa. Mind you the 2022 winter has 3 tests in England, then 1 in Ireland.
Didn't know about the Bangladesh tour - ta. I'd still select Blundell as opener for the India tests, while both he and Young would be in the squad for Bangladesh and you could go either way on who opens, depending on form.

Have had half an eye on this game - bizarre that Chapman has been selected as a spin-bowler and that even when we have a collapse he comes in below both Neesham and De Grandhomme. On a hiding to nothing.

Great fielding by India for the two runouts. Could easily look back at the result after the match and say that was match-winning.

Both Neesh and CdG have just surrendered their wickets in both games, apparently not the slightest regard for the situation.

Chapman I realize didn't even bowl an over for NZ A. Happy to see Jamieson play but barring the last one day game he actually got smashed. I don't have a good feeling about this game with out bowling options and India chasing.
Pleased to see Jamieson in the side purely so I can watch him bowl in an international match. Reckon 50-overs might be his weakest format though, and him plus Southee plus Bennett is very samey.

or "bad calling by Taylor for the two runouts. Could easily look back at the result after the match and say that was match-losing."

Yeahhhh never really rated chapman. Hasn't done anything worth noticing in the limited opportunities he's gotten. The likes of Seifert, Blundell and Phillips are in the same boat of limited exposure but have done much better.

So much for the decision to bat all the way to no. 8. There was a stat on Cricinfo which said NZ have the second-worst batting average from no. 5 downwards in recent times, what a reversal of what we're used to.

Yeah, it’s pretty obvious and really bad. He’s not involved with the setup anymore obviously but you can just sense from his attitude why some guys are given season after season of poor returns. Definitely the haves and the have nots amongst this NZ setup

btw why is Chapman batting at 8? I didn’t realise he bowled now

Well when you have two guys in Latham and de Gtandhomme who are bog average white ball batsman that will happen, especially when they get game after game to prove that.
