Don't like this spinners at both ends tactic now. Guess could work for a few overs but they need to atleast keep it tight.

There doesn't seem any turn.

Ashwin-Jadeja are just not going to get a wicket here. And we need a breakthrough immediately. Can see these two effectively end the game if we dont get one of them cheaply

Lions batting line-up hasn't changed too much, reckon 3 years on they'd do much better; England XI also nowhere near as strong, especially in batting.

As far as 'not throwing it away' goes, 200 up is very comforting, isn't it?

Pretty even session. Still needs a proper partnership to really turn the screw.

India's session but the nerve settling little partnership between these two has put us well back in control. Another 100 + runs and we should be very happy.

Spinners early against Jos was a real blunder from Dhoni though.

Can't see what people are moaning about. In a low scoring game (well it looks that way at present) we have scored 88-3 in a session. We now have a lead of 49 and from 200-6 normally you would expect to add another 100 runs. India needed a great session to get right back in it but they only managed a good one so are still behind and in need of a great session to get back in this.

My issue with Dhoni as a fielding captain is you always feel safe as the batting side, he never really goes for the jugular, takes risks or applies pressure with his fielding placements. So much more comfortable to play against than other test captains.

It's all down to that Sri Lanka Test match, I think. In fact there was a stat about our losing quite a lot of matches after having the oppo 4 down for nothing in the first innings.

It's fine. Rooteh's gonna hit another big ton.

This Ponting masterclass is awesome. Why's he not in the comm box ahead of Warne?

Protecting Sky's talent. Ponting doesn't have the bonus of making Bumble and Beefy seem intellectual giants, unlike Warney.

Noticed he's still showing a scar from that nasty Harmison delivery on the first day in 2005.

Unbelievable player Ponting, and a player I'm finding much easier to appreciate now he's retired. Speaks well about the game too, enjoyed listening to him breaking down techniques, and how he played different shots.

I fear random 3rd innings h4x. Especially if India get the pitch this evening when it's likely to be at its best.

Man I've so enjoyed everyone of them, and it so weird that I can think that way of Ricky now. 5 or 6 years ago I'd have turned the telly off you'd have said there was a RP masterclass on.......now I can't get enough of it.

Me and Fred mentioned it a while back, a player we once so despised has become one we so respect........think it was the 2009 Ashes when he warmed on me.

Edit:

And he was great as a comm in the Big Bash last year.

Yeah, I definitely share those sentiments. Would much rather listen to the Ponting Masterclasses than the Sachin features. Can't stand listening to Sachin talk, find his voice really grating. Ponting's great to listen to though.

Dhoni bowling Ashwin and Jadeja from both ends when Root and Buttler werent settled was typical MS. He just doesn't understand when to keep the pressure on and allows the game to just drift aimlessly.
