The pitch was damp from watering yesterday. So it helps the seamers today. However the pitch will dry out today , and once again become a typical dry subcontinental pitch. The spinners come into play then. That is why he didnt select the third seamer. If he had lost the toss,Bangladesh would have bowled, and he would have been saddled with an extra seamer (and one spinner less) for the rest of the test.Prince EWS said:I know that, but I still think Harbhajan and Kumble have much more chance of getting wickets than Ganguly.
When he saw the pitch, he obviously knew that it was going to seam, so he if believed that even HIMSELF had more chance than Harbhajan and Kumble, then why not pick an extra fast bowler?
Indeed. Before the tour of Australia, many questioned the need to play him there, and he's proven everyone wrong. He has proved his critics wrong about his performances away from home. Hopefully he will prove those wrong who say he shouldn't be playing ODI's, since he's definitely a vital bowler in the Indian ODI attack.duffer said:Kumble = Legend
Well done mate. Underrated all his career, let's see if he gets the recognition he deserves now.
I would ceratinly enjoy a South African on Nw Zealand domestic game more than this.Richard said:A thoroughly predictable thrashing...
Only surprise was that they lasted as long as they did.
India to score 500 or however many they want, win by an innings and 250 or so...
Yet again, we ask: what is the point of this?
Doubtless we'll be subjected to that one for the next 4 years of thrashings, too.duffer said:It's a good learning experience ya know
Yay, the thread is finally stickied - about 7 hours after the first ball was due to be bowled of the Test series.marc71178 said:Only series actually going on are stickied
It is. Which is a tragedy which cant be avoided as money is important.Richard said:I can totally understand why Boards would prefer to fill the empty space with this seemingly risk-free, financially profitable stuff, but IMO it's another example of short-termism.

Which is exactly the same as the impression you get from any tour involving Bangladesh and Zimbabawe.Pratyush said:It is. Which is a tragedy which cant be avoided as money is important.
As far as the South Arican tour i concerned, it could have been longer if the recent history of their last tour hadnt been so shady.
The impression I gotwas that both teams wanted this tour of of their was as quickly as possible..
Reading the commentary on this thread, it does seem like a Bangladesh-won toss would have been interesting.Deja moo said:My feeling is that had Bangladesh won the toss, they could have had India in trouble. India had the best of conditions to bowl in, and Bangladesh might find it tough tomorrow.
What are you going to do ? spank them ?Arjun said:Going by Ganguly's plans, the series should be a walk-over, with the Indians winning by an innings and at least 100 runs. Anything less cannot be accepted. Even if they whitewash the Banglas, they won't prove much, will they? Television Rating Points will definitely crash.
