Fifty for Khaled Mashud, in just 39 balls. Looks like Agarkar's last over goes for more than a few.

India wins, but it's a disappointing end. They were two wickets too short. Harbhajan's wides kept the umpire busy, while the fifth bowler proved a weak link yet again. Ganguly's four overs didn't improve chances of taking wickets, but Sriram was a surprise package.

Pathan is not consistent enough- after he bowls a good spell in the opening overs, he doesn't keep up his good form. Sharma was impressive- he bowled too many four-balls and a needless six-ball, but he just bowled one wide (again, one he could do without) and kept the ball straight. He can be more effective with a fresh, new ball than when it is old.

Dhoni will get two more chances to show his hard-hitting ability, and hopefully Sharma will, too. The team needs more hard-hitters to complement the grafters and innings-builders, which is why these players are relevant. Neither have any sound technique, unlike Pathan and Dravid, who can hit big shots without straying from the book.

What's your opinion of the move to open with Rafique? Given the six he hit, it was not too bad.

Calm down i was only congradulating the bang team as i didnt expect them to be that near indias score. But also well played india

Maybe in the next match, they can swap Agarkar and Pathan with Zaheer and Karthik, and play Sehwag or an extra bowler in place of one batsman. Sehwag can bowl 10 overs and bat at number 8 as their next experiment, though he should be considered as a long-term option for bowling more than 8 overs. But most importantly, they have to go for wickets! No point setting defensive fields when they can't claw back!

Should the newcomers have played in Tests rather than in ODI's? The shorter version of the game is not the most ideal breeding phase for young players' skills.

The Indians did not score enough runs, and had a slow start. Moreover, from a long-term point of view, it may be a good thing that Sharma got hit for 16 runs in the last over- he has to change his bowling in the final overs. This is a problem for those making a debut in an ODI before playing their first Test, particularly strike bowlers.

Jeese, didn't expect them to come that close. The Run Rate Required last time I checked on cricinfo was closing in on 9 when I left the computer. Agarkar looks to have had a shocker, and Pathan and Harbhajan weren't exactly brilliant as well.

Not exactly good news. :-/

Oh yes, 10 runs - what a great success 8-)

The game is about scoring runs quickly, that does not necessarily require big hitting.

The last 3 overs of the Indian innings cost 40 runs. Cost BD the match. Tapash's 1/67 and Nafis' 52 ball 9 ruined the game for Bangladesh

His opening partner's 9 runs in 52 balls was not that great either. You have to score quickly in the first 15 overs, and that includes big hitting. If he converted that start into a big score, that team would have strength at the top of the order.

But he didn't. He scored a total of 8 runs (from 10 balls), yet because he hit a six in that you think it's "not too bad" - would you have said the same if he'd got 8 from 10 balls without any boundaries?

He's had success opening before and was being wasted down the order. Javed is in horrific form and certainly wouldn't have performed well and after Ashraful's great hundred they don't want to force him to open. It's important to get off to a good start and take advantage of the first 15 overs. The only other option was Manjural Islam Rana

So what ? Last two overs of BD innings yielded 31 runs ! The last three 37.

Tapash Baishya went for 67 because he was hit for 67.

Yes Nafis's 9 in 52 balls and then getting out was a big problem for BD, But it appeared from watching the match that only when BD batsmen realised the match was a lost cause that they went for the bowling with nothing to lose and this is what brought them to their final score. Maybe there is a lesson there.

Did Harbhajan bowl one wide too many? He had an off-day today, but commentators said he bowled well. He has not been in good form since the Kolkata Test and he too needs a break.
