It wasn't long ago that Yousuf received an article like that on Cricinfo, and we all know what happened to him.

Maybe the same will happen to Clarke. *shrugs*

The timing of the article was interesting considering it came out right after his good knock in the 4th innings, but they did acknowledge it.

Obviously cracks when the teams under pressure. Do you have Symonds' and Hussey's stats for winning and losing matches for Australia? These two are the ones that usually step up in times of need.
Pretty funny question, given that Symonds and Hussey have never been in a losing Australian team before. Symonds had a 100% winning record until yesterday in fact. Hussey had at least been part of one draw.

Also, I don't think Hussey has too many "clutch" innings yet, in tests. One or two at most. In fact even in ODIs the only thing he hasn't done is a huge innings in a close chase, Bevan style. Not that he's not capable, it's just he's had limited chances and hasn't taken them yet. Hussey's played some amazing innings batting with the tail though.

Jaffer's been out the same way all series but in between the outs, he's looked a solid player. If he gets that kink out of his game, he'll be good.
That's because his good technique in defence doesn't transfer over when playing shots on tracks with more bounce than the average Indian track. This problem's been there for quite some time as well.

Yeah. I reckon that a lot of it is adjustment problem. This is his first time in Australia and it isn't some thing every one can get used to fast. He did look better in Canberra and has given us runs in the recent past in England, other places. Given that the team management has shown confidence in him, I would back him and pick him for Adelaide. The other option is 5 bowlers and that would mean one of two things, neither of which I am comfortable with:

1) Opening with Dravid - why do you want to go back to it after switching to Dravid at no. 3 in the third test - stop jumping your key player around, particularly when he is coming back to his own.

2) Trying a new opener in the crucial fourth test.

I would go unchanged for Adelaide except if they think that Harbhajan can be a dangerous prospect looking at the pitch. In that case, I would open with Pathan.

Did I expect any different from the President and CEO of the Nathan Bracken Fan Club?
I sure hope not.

Without a doubt, there are others, rightly, ahead of Bracken in the queue for a Test call-up. But you can't say he shouldn't be up there.

Who cares? This ODI series will be the longest snoozefest in the history of cricket. I want another Test added to the series tbh.

****ing hell, this is the biggest bull**** ever. **** you Dhoni and **** you BCCI.
Could've been worse, Dhoni could've been captain of the test team and we'd have saved a couple of 2's and 3's , but Dravid and Ganguly might have been out of the test team too.(and consequently lost Bangalore and Perth).

That's rather insulting to Dhoni. There is some sense in dropping Dravid and Ganguly for the one-day squad; doing the same in the test squad (along with dropping a few others as well) would be stupid and foolhardy no matter how you look at it. Dhoni would not have done asked for such changes in the test team - cut the crap.

Dravid, perhaps, due to his form. (but his form in the first 2 tests was scratchy too).

Ganguly, based on the last 12 months - it makes as much sense to drop him from ODI's as it does to drop him from tests. (The slow batting argument is weak, his strike rate in 2007 is about what it is through his ODI career). Ganguly+Tendulkar opening were really producing in the ODI's, I thought.
