Not Happy, Not happy at all.

For over two decades, we haven't had much to smile about, I hope that the Indian bowlers get back on their game, QUICKLY.

They haven't been that bad really, they started better than the Aussie bowlers did. The Aussie batsman have just been too good.

Ponting has had alot of luck, and survived yet another close LBW.

I think if India picks up a wicket soon then i think they can take some pretty quickly and maybe India can gain a slender lead. But it's all hope

India were in a very similar situation. Nothing indicates that at all.

But yes, I can see where you're coming from. India better have a wicket soon or Australia do have the potential to come down like a Tempest...:P

I know Steve Waugh certainly wont be declaring in a hurry , idealy he'll only want to bat once here & I think he's told Hayden & Ponting to just take it easy & keep wickets intact , if they can go to stumps tonight around 50 behind with 6 or 7 wickets in hand it would be ideal , put them in complete control with 3 days to go.

Neil's prediction missed by just one run yesterday , but he's already a long way off the pace today.

make another prediction

Oh my God, Ricky Ponting already has 372 runs excluding his runs in this innings, he may very well make over 600 in the test series! I believe Punter is the most underrated man in world cricket - dunno know about you lot but I rate him as the Worlds best batsman. Did you know Ponting avgs over 54 in tests, he has hit the most ODI centuries this year, his avg in tests thi yr is the worlds highest, even better than Hayden, Waugh and Lara.

His 140 not out in the world cup final is the best innings I have ever seen, this man (punter) is an inspiration and will certainly end his career as an all time great....moreover hear the punchline he's only 28!!! Ever seen he got married last june (2002) he's bin the most consistent batsman in the world (odi and test combined) along with the likes of Hayden, Lara and Smith!!!!!!

I have already said that in all time test and ODI century lists he will second only to Tendulkar and who knows if he continues the way he is (which is no easy task) he may very well surpass Tendulakr in century lists! The thing is Ponting wasn't allowed to be a regular in the OZ squad otherwise since he was age 17 he's bin hammering everyone, his only problem was India spin and last month he thrashed Kumble all around the stadium at Bangalore yet he's forgotten by everyone everytime.

As I see it irrespective of the result in this series RICKY PONTING IS THE WORLDS BEST CRICKET BATSMAN, A GREAT CAPTAIN AND AN EXCELLENT FIELDER!!!

Ricky Ponting has far more support than a Brian Lara or a Michael Vaughan though. As such, I can't agree that he is the best. When you have Hayden, Gilchrist and Waugh all averaging over 50 to come in around you, the pressure is significantly less than when you have 30's as support.

Precisely my point, mate. But that doesn't mean all these batsmen are lesser people. They are great in their own right. You can't really blame them for being in a good team.

Ponting's good, but I don't think he's the best.

Oh cmon man People always say that for the Aussies, it ain't Punter's fault that he has the likes of Gilly, Haydos, Tugga, Dammo in his team! Lets not forget Lara had Hooper, Richardson, Chanderpaul, Sarwan in his team, Sachin has GAnguly, Dravid, LAxman, SEhwag in his team!

Ponting is always the one who anchors Australia's innings, he has done sooooooooo soooo many times, yet he's underappreciated by everyone even PWC rates Dravid higher than Ponting while I think Ponting has more talent in his left finger than whole of Dravid will ever have!

Perhaps I'm pushing the envelope but I honestly think that apart from Hayden and the caribbean prince Brian Charles Lara, Ponting (currently) is the at the very top along with those two!

Whats amazing is that he always always plays a fast game, full of boundaries particularly sixes! To me I repeat he's the very best batsman in world cricket (currently)! O thers like Lara, Hayden and Smith aren't all that good in ODI's , Tendulkar is mainly good at ODI's so is Gayle but Punter is excellent at both and he has so much pressure and expectations b'coz he's the captain to the worlds strongest cricketing nation (according to stats that stands third only to Lloyds XI and the BRadman invincibles)!

Congrats to Matty Hayden on his brilliant century, easily amongst the greatest players of all time, when I think Hayden, I think big, I think of King Viv!!! I give HAyden A + on his concentration------

time to put your head down and concentrate on the next milestone, congrats to Ponting also for his century (I know he'll make a 100, Punter never disappoints)!

PS. where have all you guys run away, I'm an Indian fan too but above that I'm a cricket fan and have bin waiting for the MCG test the whole yr, may the better team win - Australia!!!!

This somewhat reminds me of the Australian version of amits. Although he holds *some* merit...

These ponting fans are everywhere aren't they.Even during the TVS Cup series, i saw Ponting being the only non-indian player to be cheered by the crowd in that series. He has also had a lot of luck going his way in this series. Two close decisions going his way again in this innings. But he is getting the runs which is the important thing. But he has been the highest rungetter in the last year or two and so the best or very close to being.

I think the Indian bowling was bowling was ok today but the batting was just too good :( . To add to that , those close LBW decisions haven't gone their way again. Oh well India had luck yesterday and today it is the turn of Australia
