*Official* India in Australia Thread

The number of victories compared to the number of defeats by the Australians really shows their self belief in their tactics and no real need to change them. They have always said it takes something special to beat and it showed. AA and Dravid had career best performances whilst Laxman's might be his second best after his 281. The Australians did not play badly. Sure another 50 runs would have made it a tougher chase but it also would give them less time to win. Full credit to India in winning. Many other teams would have crumbled under the pressure. India didn't and hopefully it will the making of them as a team that can consistently win overseas. World cricket needs more great contests and less one sided matches.

Oops i just read that article Rik:D . That sentence was just trash talk:yawn:
I must say it's a surprising thing to say by Ganguly. But I suppose he's just trying to rub it in that India won. No wonder he's the least popular captain in world cricket (we all feel sorry for Khaled Mahmud even if Bangladeshi fans don't)

But they didn't score. So no special use in such imaginations. Such comments never ends like if I say if India had restircted aus for 100 , they could have won in 3 days, ..if Ponting was taken by Sehwag.....

Who said Sourav is not popular?:!( He is the most widely accepted Indian captain after Kapil Dev, in India...that means the most popular in the world of cricket.
[Proof:]
The number indian cricket fans can simply be 70% of the world cricket fans.(Remember, India is the second highest in population , within years we will overtake China :D ). So how can u say that he is the least popular captain. [Proved]
He is the first aggressive Indian captain( as far as I know) who never cares about his arrogant opponents...So opponets don't like him nand that's y he is mostly popular among his country men only.Hence, I can't find any reason for which u like Saurav's captaincy.

There's nothing wrong in Saurav's statement.See what jagaways said in his latest post.I don't want to repeat it.

Yes!!! Incredible!!! Wonderful!!! Dream come true!!! and it was not as if Australia played really badly, it was a high quality test match with wonderful batting from both sides, exceptional bowling, brilliant catching and India just nosing out the Aussies at the fiinish line!

I will never poke fun at the great AA again!!!:P

If a batsman is selecting a bad shot, obviously it goes to the bowler's credit..because he isn't even able to think about the correct shot when the bowler bowled that one.
This debate rears it's head again!

if u r really indian, u should live in india. leaving ur great country to go and settle down in some other country is total foolishness. u should live for ur country and not urself. u all should come back to india and live her if u call urself indian.

indian fans living in india r more patriotic and sensible than u 2. indian fans living outside india r crap smokers and pessimists.

leaving ur country shows ur weakness and also it shows ur unpatriotism.

If I were you I would think carefully before posting things like this again. You don't know anything about why people choose to move (or even if he chose to move or had it thrust upon him)

KapilDev's was much better team with more number of talented batsmen and ofcourse a good allrounder.
More talented than this line up?

Interesting, but I would question that.

my apologies to james...it only seemed inappropriate that he should ban the indian out of the two who were arguing.

They're both Indian! ;)

Don't take my comments out of context. Did you bother to read my entire post. It refered to how the Australians play and the comments made by others that the Australians need to grind out a test match. The Australians would rather lose a test match by having a go at winning it, rather than the English way of trying to avoid defeat at all costs and win if that is achieved. (see Dyson's comments about the recent test against Sri Lanka.)

Like Anil said, this was a dream come true. Up here in these parts of the world, I was up until 2:30 each morning to watch the test match. And what a wonderful match it was!

Australians played the only way they know how: aggressively and determined for a win. Aussies have really transformed test cricket the last few years with their extremely aggressive, all-or-nothing approach to the game and I'm grateful to them for that. For most of the match, Indians matched their aggression and watching two teams playing positively for a win right down to the last session of the match was a very pleasing sight.

Kudos to India for keeping their nerves against the best team in the world...and to both teams for playing an excellent test match.

Also, props to all the Aussie players, and their followers for being great sports. Extremely graceful in defeat! That's one of the reasons why Australia is my second favourite team and why I've just loved their dominance on the world cricket over the past few years (except against India, of course.)

Excellent win by a very motivated Indian team !! Its extremely satisfying to beat the best team in the world at its own den. Its a proud day for all Indian fans across the world. I just can't stop smiling today :D :D :D

Rahul Dravid proves his class again.... although most of the times he is eclipsed by greater exploits from someone else, like Laxman at Kolkata in 2001......this time he stamped his name all over this match.

Rik,

I dunno if the test rankings are that clear cut.
Australia are clearly above everyone else.

Bt amongst the rest, its pretty close.
If South Africa are way ahead of everyone else, then how come they failed to win in England and lost in Pakistan ?

Come to think of it: Laxman's highest test score, Tendulkar's highest ODI score and Ganguly's highest ODI score all came during partnerships with Dravid, wherein he too made an excellent century, only to be overshadowed. Glad he's coming out on his own accord, now.

How many double centuries has Dravid got now?

Rahul simply deserves every accolade and word of praise he gets.
He is our real MVP.

Absolutely amazing win. Pity some stupid and rather 'fundamentalist' Indian fans have to spoil the party and give the other (decent) Indian fans on this board a bad name.

Dravid just hit his 4th double century of his career. He is two ahead of a certain Sachin Tendulkar, and needs 3 more to get past a certain BC Lara.
