guys, stop dreaming and stop all this arrogancy.

india will win this series 2-1. as for the 5th day, the indian bowling wasnt upto mark, but still india scored at over 4.5 runs an over with batting. if an extra day, had been given in the test, then india for sure would have won.

the 5th day is just a fluke and india r going to dominate this series for sure.

saying that aus will win 3-0 is a dream and this will never ever come true. even india will start beating new zealand in rugby, the day aus clean sweeps a series against india.

aus batting has been shown that it overrated and is prone to collapses and as for their bowling, it sucks. mcgrath and lee have lost their line and length and their bowling has deterirated. india, have already got used to bichel and have taken him apart for runs in the tvs cup and the 1st test. the only threat is gillespie. indians r good players of spin and so mcgill wont be a threat.

india have the edge in batting and bowling and india r the overwhelming favs for the series

Was anybody else really impressed by Chopra's 1st innings knock? He looks to me to be - potentially - just the kind of rock solid opener India need to counter balance the stroke players.

Credit to Patel too, though apparently he missed a stumping. Rode his luck with the bat, but looks pretty good technically.
I haven't yet seen Chopra's batting( missed the NZ series and the last match).Heard that he can be a good candidate for the opening slot.Patel rides on luck and favourism, not fully by talent.Captain's dislike on someone helps him.Don't have to give the consideration of age to an international player. 18 yrs not that young; remember Sachin started at 15-16.

4.5 runs an over due to a few wild swipes from Nehra and Bhajji... Australia were looking set for a very big number.

What about the first day?

Come again? They did not even play this game due to i-n-j-u-r-y. Where do you live, cloud seven?

Ah well, there are better things to do in life than arguing with an Indian cricket fanatic.

We'll see soon who is right - you or the neutral CW community (even disregarding the Aussies, most still bet 3-0 to a man).

I have to agree, I don't find any of the Aussue batsmen particularly stylish. "Brutal" is more apt for most of them.

I enjoyed Laxman's 1st innings knock more than any I've seen for a while. Sarwan is stylish when he gets going and I really enjoy Butcher in full flow.
Yeah, exactly the word brutal is apt for Hayden.I missed a few names in the list of stylish.Butcher,Sarwan come in that.Among the old players( not very old) Gavaskar,Martin Crow,Richards,Desilva,Ranathunga,Azharuddin, Grienidge,David Gower,Gatting,.... are in the list.

Are you determined to pick fault with every positive comment made about India's performance?!
No, just pointing things out that seem to be overlooked by people, and to me say that Australia were never going to lose that game, and would've won it had it gone the full 5 days.

What would have happened if Sourav and Laxman hadn't batted like that?Sure, aus would have won in 3 days. Then, u might not have said "they couldn't approach in the right manner"..

Don't see the relevance to my comment re: a draw here.

U are surely, amit's australian counterpart. Aus was never going to win the test as India took the first innings lead.Ur comment seems to be like India just escaped due to the loss of time.

You what? they scored at 3.4 in the first innings (16 overs at the end of the game cannot be used as a realistic gauge)

Fluke - A stroke of Good Luck, A Chance Occurance, An Accident.

Based on Australia recent habit of destroying attacks, I think it wasn't a fluke.

Odds for the series:

Australia 1-8
Draw 6-1
India 12-1

That is so overwhelming it's not worth betting on!

Oh what a terrible player.

He only averages 25.9 at the age of 18 after 10 matches.

It aint gonna matter what happens, if Australia win the series he will just start whinging about the umpires and probably even go as far as saying the Aussie doctored the wickets to be fast so that India couldn't handle them....

Hmm...marc re: your claim that Australia would have won had it not been because of the rain.....

mate that's an if....equally, I could have said India would have won because Laxman and Dravid would have put together a mammoth partnership aka Calcutta 2001 and chased down whatever Australia set them given the Australian bowling wasn't worrying them.

All supposition.

To be honest I was not impressed by Chopra. Fine he has a sound defence and seems tough mentally but he only once hit the fast bowlers off teh square. His runs off the fast bowlers consisted of dropping the ball at his feet and running. He looked very good against MacGill though. In Australia he won't do much I feel.

Patel impressed me though. He played some lovely shots while batting. His keeping will need to improve. The missed stumping was easy.

It was a good effort by India. They played hard and batted well. the problem that I see is their bowling. I can't see how they'll bowl Australia out twice especially if Zaheer is injured. To win a test match you must nearly always take 20 wickets. The Turbanator is bowling pies at the moment. Kumble should come in. The real selection problem is their best spinner is still at home. On the fast bowling front, Nehra looked underdone while the back up bowlers of Pathan and Balaji dod not perform in the lead up matches.

The batting looks good and it may be good enough to force at least another draw but not a win.

Had there been 90 overs on the 1st day, the way India played the match would've been all but over.

Mate, if every team that led after the first innings won the test match there wouldn't be a need for the second innings now, would there?

Good effort by India to hold Australia to a draw. Still a long way to go to save the series though.

Great knock by Ganguly. Hope he carries on like this throughout the series. The bowling has to really improve if we really want to force a win. AA bowled well too. Two unlikely heroes for India.

On to the second test....

Sheesh you guys, it's bloody obvious Amits is taking the ****. Why can't you actually understand humour when you see it? (and I'm not joking I honestly think he's humouring you and I think he succeeded)
