i am at the aussie biasness of the media. when ind needed 70 to win with 7 wickets in hand in the last test, commentators were saying aus had a good chance of winning and here when aus needed 95 to win, it was said that aus has won . this biasness thing needs to be stopped.

It doesn't make any difference what the Oz commentators say, concentrate on the score, I reckon the commentators appear biased because Australia has done this before, bin a similar situation before.

Why would you even concern yourself with these comments, Oz commentators can say whatever they want - Ganguly is free to pull out of the tour if these comments hurt him, thats how life is - you can't stand the heat then don't enter the kitchen. :saint:

PS. Bob Willis and a few other English commentators praise the English even when they have lost the Ashes 4-1...

Commentry does affect the result - ever.

It also tends to favour the home side. Thats what the majority of people who are listening want to hear.

They have also really screwed up before, too.:P I heve noticed the bias, and it really annoys me. Warnie and Richie are the only Aussies who aren't biased. Of course, Nicholas and Tony "The Windies will grovel" Greig aren't biased...

what exactly is sledging????

"Where you have learnt your technique, mate! This is all what John Wright has taught you," Matthew Hayden taunted Rahul Dravid as the Indian vice-captain, with his trademark defiance, sought an Indian revival

I found that so hilarious, I'm sure Dravid too found it utterly funny, this is only sweet talk!

Brad Williams snarled at Sachin Tendulkar after getting him out and directed Ajit Agarkar towards the dressing room after rattling his stumps with a quick delivery.

Once again I see no reason why this is called sledging, I'mean duh, its happens everywhere and it gets worse! In the Major league Baseball, NBA, English Premiere League, Spanish La Liga, Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga, Japanese Baseball, Tennis (men and women), Rugby, Hockey (ice), NFL!

What I mean is this sweet talk which the Times Of India calls 'sledging' will never stop because its only sweet talk. Pardon my expression but to those who think this sort of sledging is bad and should be outlawed, my message to them is to get some b*lls for heavens sake !!

 happy new yr all you folks, this is a great cricket forum - good work to all the hosts and users for making it so, I really enjoy reading your views :saint:

But it's cricket which is (was) gentlemen's game.

Times of India's report is a mild one. Some other newspaper reported the real sledging
( Brad Williams-Sachin,Agarkar Hayden & others- Dravid ( I feel it is barring Steve & Gilly)
Bracken -- Patel
Lee -- Kumble
Nobody dared to do it against Saurav( he is more worser in sledging than aussie).
But I feel, if williams plays the ODI, sure Sachin will try to reply with his bat as he normally used to do against sledging ( ask McGrath for further clarification)

Can't say I'm surprised - but then again, none of the current Aussies try as hard (and as futilely) as Andre Nel.
 It was hilarious watching Nel attempting to sledge Lara in the first test: Lara kept turning his back on him and waving him away. I noticed in the second test that Nel was trying very hard to keep his tongue in his mouth, possibly a consequence of being fined after his 'send-off' of Chris Gayle.

Personally, I think the best come back to a sledger is to either 1) turn your back, 2) pretend that you're not listening.

Batsmen on the field have to strategize, whenever it appears that the bowler is going to start talking to them, they should start talking to each other completely ignoring him. Or the batsman could just turn around and talk to another player on the field or turn his back and pretend to be looking at the field placements.

I hope you weren't saying anything worth my time, because I don't expect it.

I'd love to see that in play. :D

The sledging report can be read from this link better than from the Times Of India(same report but the TI used 4 pages for it)

I made a mistake by saying "they won't dare to do it against Saurav", but they did against him too( now only I completely read the news). this is really bad OZ.. Learn a lot from the Lankans how to control urself , they only play cricket and won't do anything other than cricket for winning a match"

or try to enjoy by saying sarcastic comments. A friend of mine does it in league matches and so nobody tries to sledge him. But sometimes it can also result in a fight if the bowler does not take it properly.

You reckon?

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

At least the Aussies don't continually appeal for things that clearly aren't out...

Shaun Marsh looked very good today , how much does he look like his dad though  .
He knows where his off stump is & he has some very nice shots , I dont know about his defensive technique though.

Really the Zimbabwean's have bowled with superb control here , particularly Blignaut , a little out of character.
