Sure, but let's not pretend that the only reason Clarke played at Adelaide was because of Hughes. That may have given him extra incentive (a lot of it, in fact, much of it driven by a sense of duty), but that was already on top of a very strong drive to play every single game he humanly can (and some he can't, evidently)

Australian seamers weren't that much more effective than the Indian seamers tbh. Lyon and how India handled him ended up being the difference and toss helped a bit.

Yeah I agree. The extra time and circumstances meant that CA were less likely to argue the point.

Giving him all due credit I do think it was incredibly poor bowling, captaincy and coaching to allow him to score with that level of injury. Sure there's motivation and skill there, but the man could barely move. Attack the body and he's done.

Nah I don't think their main problem was bowling too short. They should have seriously tried to york him, make him lean forward in defence. He looked fine on the back foot - well, better, at any rate.

Harris Was definitely under cooked. Even admitted beforehand that he needed an extra shield game.

Johnson seemed off as well but the Indians played him quite well. Leaving alot of balls outside the off stump and waiting for him to stray onto his pads

And well Siddle. Hardly any suprises.

Expecting a much better performance from our attack in the rest of the series.

The off-colour Aussie pace attack still looked miles better than Shami and Aaron, regardless of what the figures say. I actually think the Indians played them quite well; but then again the bounce was true, pitch wasn't fast, and there was little movement.

Clarke was fit enough to make 60 in the first dig so India weren't bowling to an unfit player all the way through his century. Besides Clarke has made runs against others in a similar condition. India also got him cheaply in the 2nd innings. Sometimes an injured batsmen excels and I once saw Greenidge on one leg tame Lillee. So I don't read too much into Clarke's hundred being an indication of how poor India's attack was in that innings.

The fact they got reamed first up indicates poor bowling. Even so Varun bowled very well in the 2nd Oz innings and should be dangerous in Brisbane. The fact we've lost our captain and they regain there's might be a subtle change in momentum in favour of the tourists for the second test.

clarke got himself out second dig, really. he never seems to get a score right after making a hundred.

60 runs before his back issue. Plus injured batsman scores runs isn't a rare headline. It can help some batsmen by having them leave more balls and only play the shots they can. They should have varied it up to see what he didn't like. If that was stretching forward then bowl only that.

Good looking XI that. Rogers very lucky, mind.
he's had like two ordinary tests in a row, made a couple of starts in the first UAE test. if cowan gets 18 ordinary tests in a row then surely rogers gets a fair crack

although it is good to see cowan's average push above 40 and his start to the season.

quad strain apparently. the way they talked about it sounded more like soreness more than a proper injury though
