Yes, I do know that. But at a slight cost in average. It maybe a complete fluke, but that was what I found.
In my experience you still get a similar random variation in average unrelated to the strike rate - I had Nasser Hussain take 107 wickets at 19 with FF, and "only" 63 at 23 with 00.

The two offsets before batting & bowling stats are cracked:

FIRST PRE-BATTING OFFSET = 10 FOR LIST A CAREER, 20 FOR ODI, 40 FOR TEST, 80 FOR FC

SECOND IS LAST YEAR = 80 FOR NONE, 08 FOR LIST A, 10 FOR ODI, 20 FOR TEST, 40 FOR FC

All cumulative - so for Mark Butcher it's 80+40+10 = D0 and 80+08+20+40 = E8 :)

I'd like to start helping out. Can someone suggest what areas I should start working on, I don't want to work on stuff that is already cracked. From what I've read, the abilities have yet to be fully understood, what offset positions should I start playing around with?

The last offsets in a player's data.

They always begin with 04 (called the "first offset" in the last few posts) and onwards and are detailed in the previous 30-40 posts :)

Counties/States

The group of seven offsets starting 19 in front of the player's first name control his county affiliation. (AB CD 01 80 XY AB CD)

The fifth (XY) of the seven affects the county displayed in the player profile, but doesn't move him in between squads - he can still only be selected by the old county.

We know that the AB CD can change this, but have only achieved successful county swaps when we completely interchange one player's set of seven with another's.

Good luck :)

editor looks very good!

i found editing the 17th offset crashes the game. i was editing stead from yorkshire and his original value is 85 when i changed any of those numbers like 86,75,84. when u start a carreer it shutsdown after u hit proceed after u have enter the skill level and name.
also i have replaced steads first 14 offsets with bradmans(SC1) and when u start a new game he is permantley on international duty.

Editor looks brilliant. One thing... are we supposed to be able to use it in any way so far? or just the basic outline? i think one more thing you can add a picture importer. so that a user can import a player phot, ground photo or club logo into the game trouble free. that would really be brilliant. looks great so far and I like the fact it's got "In association with www.cricketweb.net"

Basically, keep up the great work "Team Magpie" :P

Is the editor supposed to be semi-operational or just a look at how it could be laid out?

I ran it from my ICC2002 directory and couldn't do anything with it.

Didn't get a chance to look in yesterday but am excited about the new developments.

Will have a look in later this evening, unless I get sacked. Could happen as manageress has turned into psycho b****.

Anyways, later :cool2:

Expected Salary

Do we know what affects the expected salary of out of contract players?

I changed Bassano - Derbys current salary to (FF) £127500 but he only demanded 24000 to renew his contract!!

I then changed it to (00) £0 he demanded 22000. Hardly a significent change!

I tried changing the values next to the salary - made no difference as far as I can tell.

Do you know about this or do we care about this.

I'm trying to help - just not very good.

The wage a player damand's is directly tied to his ability so the better the player is the more he will ask for.

I have been updating my database currently for all the Australian players and wage expectancy will go up for players if you improve there skill or the other way round if you decrease there skill.

It was just looks & layout wise - I just knocked it up in half an hour or so.

Will see what I can do wrt pictures, it really shouldn't be too difficult.

Eclipse is right about salaries, and Malcolm, as far as we're aware, all seven offsets need to be changed and the first and second must remain identical to the sixth and seventh.

We can get away with swapping players at present but nothing more.

Sam - can you have a try at getting 2 overseas players into one team?

I seem to recall that in ICC 2000/2001 (I forget which), Lancashire had 2 overseas players, Joe Scuderi being the second (he was playing on an EU passport in reality). At the end of the season, only one could be kept though. So it could well be possible to put two overseas players in a side. If someone did an update for the 2004 season, and only one overseas player could be kept at the end of the season, this would correspond with reality, as in 2005, the counties will be going back to one overseas player.

On two more subjects, would it be possible to add Scotland into the National League? And would it be possible to change the Bangladeshi, Kenyan, Dutch, Nambian and Canadian players so that they were available as overseas players?

I'm 99.9% sure I won't be able to add Scotland to the NCL as the code in the executable file is built around 18 sides.

As for overseas players - again, it's the exe code, so I'd be surprised if it were to pick up anything different. We may have to settle for changing a few nationalities.

The reason I asked about the non-test players was that in the World Cup they appear as just, say, "Canada", as opposed to "Available & Canada", which suggests (to me anyway) that it may be they have this variable missing from their player record.... has anyone tried searhcing for one of them in the data file?
