I'm backing the Scots myself... A lot of county experience and two ex-england internationals will see us through... Gavin Hamilton and Dougie Brown will be playing, as will Kyle Coetzer (Durham) and John Blain (Yorkshire). This is a massive tournament for us, as if we win it, we will have achieved full ODI status, which is amazing. We should make the World Cup anyway, but a win would be fantastic for the sport up here.

Is Brown definitely playing then?

I've not heard anything yet.

And how do you mean "full ODI status?"

Wales looks like Glamorgan 'B'. Not that big a win. :p
They followed it up by getting thumped by 100 runs by Devon, whilst Canada eased past Devon Premier League basement dwellers Seaton by 73 runs - but Exeter had defeated the winless-and-going-straight-back-down-again hosts by 85 the previous day.

Is this really all the associates have to offer?!

I played for Kilmington as a fill-in yesterday with a guy who played for Seaton against the Canadians. He was telling us that he'd tried to get hold of a canadian shirt but the players had told him they only get two of everything and have to pay for it themselves. he said it was incredible that Exmouth can dole out loads of money on overseas players and kit to give to them but a national side couldn't afford its own stuff. He also said that the canadian bowlers were very quick, and Davison was playing for them as well.

This guy ended up scoring 94 out of 176 (Chubb 11) for Kilmington by the way...

I don't think Canada will qualify for the World Cup... Namibia, Scotland and Netherlands seem to be better teams in Group B

If Holland get blown out the water by an average minor side like ourselves, they're going nowhere.

You're right Neil of course but you've got to admit we have a pretty great record in the Minor Counties, we always seem to be up there with the contenders, especially in the nineties when there was actually a bit of speculation we might just follow Durham.

Barney Rubble

Devon have Arul Suppiah, Malaysian cricketing superstar. But Somerset, rather bizarrely, also have him too.

He's actually pretty good from what I hear - left-arm spinner with a good eye for the ball who can certainly give it a fair whack. Scored a double ton opening the batting in a 2nd XI game a while back.

Strange to hear Canada only beat a club team by 73 runs - maybe Seaton should play whoever it was Davison smacked a hundred off (Pakistan? West Indies? not sure), see how they get on.

Or maybe they should play Bangladesh in a Test match........ :p

Aye... 'twas very much the same for Lincolnshire, though. Plus, where the heck would we play?!

Good old Exmouth by the sea. The new Hove. Get some grandstands down there it'd look pretty good. We could play at Budleigh, but you'd have to put up with floods every winter! Exeter would be the place, build a new ground outside the city, between Kenn and the outskirts... or we could redevelop your ground...

I like the latter option the best.

Nice to see Baz in the runs. It's a real shame that holland didn't get enough development after 1996 because he could have been something a bit special for you.
