*Official* Fourth Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) 19-23 July

I do hope this Test draws a terminal line through the idea of not playing a specialist spinner unless the pitch is literally the same colour as the outfield. An okay part timer is never a good enough substitute.
Add two all-rounders in the middle order to the list of things I never want to see in test cricket again.

Makes the defenses of Robinson earlier in the series look very odd tbh when they could have had this instead.
Yeah I forgot about robinsons injury as well we might not of seen woakes test 3 if not for it but all Englands replacements have been good in my opinion. Wood was probably definitely in if his fit game 1 and 2.

I’m still worried about our replacements there’s a good chance neser and Murphy comes in next test it will be hard for them.

I think Aus chances are still good in the 5th test even though they got smoked here at Manchester. They’ve already showed they can bowl England out for under par scores they don’t need to go short stuff and t20 mode for long periods. Plus there batting if someone can play an innings like Marnus did yesterday then it goes a long way to having a 300 run innings to something like 400-450

Another two or three hours of this will be lovely.

Amazingly they have had a full day at Cheltenham today, a Chris Dent century against Glamorgan.
Watching from the comfort of my armchair in West Australia.

Rain looks to be clearing by 3 pm. Probably an hour to mop up so 3 and hours of play be possible
That is not enough because than more rain will returns with 100% chances you not removes last 5 wkts very fast when you save test.

180/1 with Lyon injured on day two as well.
Yeah I think that's the biggest missed opportunity for England this series. That passage of play where we threw a bunch of wickets away slogging short balls to 9 fielders all positioned on the boundary rope was such sad cricket.

It's actually stupid.... Being out there with no play and in the wet anyone could just slip or roll an ankle.Silly pointless optics.

Nothing to gain.Just get off the ground & let nature take it's course & find something else to pass the time indoors.

You have to show the Australians that England have work ethic

Ironically though there's a good argument that had that not happened, you probably don't win at Headingley because they surely don't try that **** again if it doesn't work. So it all evens out, sort of.
