Comms are 100% correct, Aus have been consistently poor not using the wide outside off strategy (which actually won them the game at Lords).

Has anyone explained the state of the game to Brook? This is a bit bizarre considering his normal way of going about things.

Oh yeah #over-rate-chat. IMO every hour the fielding team should need to drop and do fifty push-ups for every over they're behind.
(hey it's no worse an idea than the alternatives)

Again, our tactics...the one bloke who actually looked a bit dicey to the short stuff we bounced twice before he got to 50 on his way to 70-odd in the last test, and here we are bowling full for him to drive again.

Teams have always wasted time and always will. No point slagging off the Aussies for doing it as we would do the same and bowl fewer overs in the same position. No idea why people only moan about it on a day like this, it is a constant in every game.

Been good this innings from Brook. Not blindly swinging at everything, played some beautiful shots and not really looked in any trouble at all. Has got to 36 pretty comfortably. Interesting to see how he plays the short stuff.

How is penalty runs a worse idea than fifty pushups?

Day 1 there were 83 bowled by 630 while Derbyshire managed to bowled 96 by 6 in the CC.

Then we only had 80 yesterday. We've been robbed of over an hour's worth of cricket in this test.

Penalty runs is the only way their going to learn. Fines and wtc points deductions are embarrassingly ineffective.

Just make the ***** bowl their overs. Cut down the breaks, play later with the flood-lights on, start early the next day, force them to bowl at least 85-90 overs a day. They'll soon start getting a ****ing move on.
