How well did Spurs play against Man Utd as opposed to the Mancunians playing poorly? Sounds like Spurs missed a few gilt-edged opportunities but also continued to offer an array of chances to the opposition. Is that about right?

As for Colchester, hard to know how good they are. A sound win against Tranmere one week and thrashed by Walsall the next.

- In the last 25 premier league games Everton have collected more points than Man United.
- Man United have won 1 of their last 9 games in European competitions.

How on earth have the standards fallen so far that this manager is still in charge?

Hopefully they fall even further. Can't think of one signing under him who you could say has been a success. That is abysmal given the amount spent.

Their general approach to recruitment seems to be "Buy Dutch players and/or players who played in the Dutch league who were quite good on Football Manager 3-4 versions ago". It's great.

Spurs are still very Spursy imo. But unfortunately for Man Utd, they are even more Utd-y than Spurs are Spursy.

People using the slip as a mitigant can get in the bin. The fact he slips means he isn't in full control, which makes it more of a red card.

Needs Dusan Tadic and Hakim Ziyech IMO.

The slip itself is essentially neither here nor there imo. Regardless of whether he slipped or not, he clearly very deliberately extends his leg post-slip in an attempt to lunge (presumably) for the ball. This was the thing that resulted in the red card, and there was nothing involuntary about it whatsoever.

I would argue that because he slipped he lost all impetus and when he actually made contact, there was literally zero chance of a serious injury happening. The fact he made contact with his heel made it even more so. A red card should be for dangerous play where there's a risk of an injury, there wasn't really any there. And I say that as someone who generally dislikes Man Utd and Fernandez!!

Mind you, I sit here typing with a stiff knee which has flared up again some 30 years after the original 2 footed challenge to the back of it which resulted in 4 cartilage ops. And no, he didn't get sent off!!

The FA Cup saved his job for sure, that and they couldn’t get anyone better at the time.

They're gonna end up with Southgate. It's blindingly obvious and has been ever since the Euros.

My prediction is they'll give the caretaker role to Ruud for the rest of this season (once all hope is lost with ETH). Come end of season they'll show the rest of ETH's coaching staff the door and Gareth will come in. No doubt all his mates in the media will back Southgate too.

I think they're trying to navigate the PR storm that will come from the fanbase with Gareth's appointment. Giving Ruud a 'chance' feels like the path of least resistance in the short term.

People always say they'll give it to X till the end of the season and then Y is coming in.
Not that simple as if Y does a better job than the guy before him he will almost always get it full time.
