Someone recently (might have been Leicester at the weekend actually) literally took a minute to take a throw in when there were 4 minutes stoppage time added on.

On the subject of feigning injuries, this convention that teams have to put the ball out for a player rolling around in mock agony is a ****ing nonsense and I wouldn't have my players doing it. What's worse is that if Team A has the ball but a man on the ground, they'll ignore him and try and score, when they lose the ball they'll immediately stop and make Team B uncomfortable enough to put the ball out.

If I was a manager my team would be told under no circumstances are they ever to put the ball out for an opposition player to receive treatment. If the opposition want their player seen to they can win the ball back and put the ball out, or if it's serious enough the referee can stop the game.

Yeah, but the whole feigning injury thing has a deeper impact than just time being wasted etc... It's not just a case of the clock being run down, it's a very effective way of breaking up the play and stopping the other team from getting any momentum/rythmn. Like when Tennis players start arguing with the umpire for no apparent reason. Stopping the clock as a means of combating the time-wasting issue is one thing, but it'd be a lot harder to find ways to counteract the other "gamesmanship" effects that go hand in hand with it.
Yeah. Can still remove one benefit of it though, and the one that most restricts the other team from an opportunity to win/draw the game. Plus the time wasting at throws, goal kicks, subs etc. I feel like every other sport in the world has some sort of system in place to prevent it, crazy that there's basically nothing available except the occasional meaningless yellow card.

Time-wasting ****s me. West Ham did it from the 20th minute against us earlier in the year, ****in' joke.
Whenever I go to the Emirates I sit behind the goal we attack second half and it's remarkable how long a goalkeeper can take for his goal kick. Been to a lot of 0-0s and late wins recently and it's infuriating in the heat of the moment.

Introducing a in play clock would be quite a big change though. I remember reading in The Numbers Game book that Stoke games under Pulis used to be 5-10 minutes shorter than United and Arsenal ones. It would probably be a hinderance to clubs that play that kind of style, not that I personally think it would be a bad thing...

Bournemouth a couple weeks ago had a man down, Arsenal kept playing, to much uproar from the crowd. When they lost it you thought Bournemouth would kick it out but instead they tried to launch a counter attack only for the whole ground to erupt in outrage when Arsenal won it back. Ridiculous.

Yeah this type of thing happened last night too. Midtjylland player went down injured, but they had a break on so they just kept on playing, which is fair enough. Then they lose the ball and United go on the attack and the ref stops the game.

The system of "always put it out" had to end because Mourinho teams constantly defended by feigning injury before giving the ball back as a throw-in beside the opposing team's corner flag, but it hasn't been replaced with anything coherent or consistent. The whole area's just a mess these days,

Finding it funny seeing all the trolling about my lot getting a bad draw in the quarter final. Seems a lot of people have more expectation than I do for tomorrow.

Is there any pressure on the Shrewsbury boss's position? I don't mean to put the boot in but it's really striking how terrible their shape is, even by League One standards. Have to wonder what the coaches are being paid for.
