Colchester :( Can definitely see double relegation being a possibility, sadly.

So, one round of games left in the Conference. Last play off place between part timers Braintree and Gimpy's Tranmere. Altrincham who won 5-0 today, need to beat Braintree for Tranmere to have a chance.
Probably more confident in Alty doing the job than us

It should be a red for what Herrera did. It's not though, and players should just exploit that loophole hard until they fix it.

Out of interest, does anyone know what the rules are re: English Premier League players and gambling?
A couple of years the rules were footballers at any level on the pyramid couldn't bet on a competition they were involved in. So someone down playing in the Northern Prem couldn't vote on Everton-Man U today despite being knocked out a good ten rounds ago.

However I believe they were looking to tighten this so that footballers basically couldn't bet on any football

Yeah I've just done a search and betting on any football is prohibited, I've found guidance on the PFA site and the FA site, but interestingly nothing to suggest how you can report someone.

Haha, no, I know full well what the rules are up here after that **** Ian Black got a laughable 3 game ban for betting against Rangers.

There is a former England international who I do know spunks thousands of pounds to online gambling sites. While this is about as newsworthy as "bear shits in woods", given his various conduct issues this season I wouldn't be at all surprised if he was stupid enough to be betting on football.

Yeah I kind of realised how little I care about the cup yesterday. Really fun game and great to see our young players do so well, but the nerves just aren't there at all. If it was us in the CL semi I'd be shitting myself days in advance.

Really, I was the opposite, especially when we were 1-0 up and spunking chance after chance.

And nothing gets me jumping off the sofa more than a last minute winner, which explains why I'm a lot heavier than in the Fergie days....

Thing is, pretty much most of them are doing it. No doubt the FA will have link ups with betting companies to monitor footballers (I'm guessing they aren't laying 50p a time so the accounts they are betting from should be rather clear to the betting sites), and the bookies themselves will be doing a fair bit to prevent it, for their rep and to keep a customer willing to lose thousands a week (they wont be betting if they are unemployed and in rehab). Also the bookies will be well aware of potential insider knowledge/fixes, and will want to cover themselves against losses.

AFAICS the only way a player could feasibly get away with it is someone else laying the bet for them, which means giving a mate thousands a week and hope he doesn't pocket the cash. Maybe thats a gamble enough....

Remember it was an FA Cup win over Palace that saved Fergie and created his dynasty

All hail LVG Army.....
