Yeah I hate that too. Spoiling attacks is fine for the first 20 minutes because they're scared of sending anyone off. Tied into this bull**** that red cards 'ruin the game as a spectacle' when a) that's the player's fault not the refs and b) a red card just as often makes it more fun.

Seems Crowley might have actually been recalled by Arsenal, and that the Barnsley manager is disappointed to lose him. Mirror article seems to have been rubbish.

I've never liked Paul Scholes, but I agree with him about the turgid football. On the phone-in shows it's almost becoming the Man Utd fans version of the "West Ham way".

Paul Scholes slams negative Louis van Gaal: I would NOT have enjoyed playing in this Man United team - Mirror Online
It's only a little bit true that LVG's style is holding the team back. It's mostly just that our attacking players aren't that good, except Martial. Scholes just can't acknowledge the elephant on the pitch because he's mates with it.

Imagine the Martial deal didn't happen. Now how average does the forward line look.

Nothing ruins a game as a spectacle more than a team of hammer throwers allowed to act as they want to because of a weak ref.

Livingston were literally resorting to rugby tackles at times last week.

When you consider everyone laughed at the Martial deal when it happened too.

Can't believe how much money LVG has spent to have a not very good side which is totally unbalanced at his disposal.

United have spent so much since Fergie left, simply to have an OK midfield and that's about it. It's pretty ridiculous. They'll probably meet their realistic goals for the 2nd season in a row, but either the football has to improve soon or they have to get near the league to justify it really.

It's definitely as much the system as the players though. Saw a stat on twitter that Ivanovic has had more shots per game than Martial this season, and it's actually true (Martial has slightly more shots per 90 minutes though). For all his obvious quality he won't score many goals this season if he stays wide and there isn't a change to the system.
