The other thing about Arsenal's midfield is that it's so incredibly versatile. Plonking Wilshere and Ramsey out on the wings when they were younger might seem a bit counter productive but Arsenal's 4, whether it's Ramsey, Wilshere, Cazorla, Özil, Rosicky etc can all play comfortably wide or through the middle, and once they all properly get used to each other's games, will be ****ing difficult for opposition teams to deal with.

Rosicky I think has been incredibly underappreciated for the last 6 months as well.
(a) Agree with all bar Ramsey. He's just so much worse out wide than through the middle.
(b) By who? All Arsenal fans I'm aware of absolutely adore him and appreciate what he does. Mind you, thought he was pretty poor in the first half last night.

I'm not saying that Ramsey should play out wide, but as he showed the other day at Cardiff, he's effective if he pops up in a wide area and gets the ball. In terms of flexibility, you could seamlessly go from Özil-Ramsey-Wilshere-Cazorla to Ramsey-Cazorla-Özil-Wilshere to Cazorla-Ramsey-Özil-Wilshere in the space of 10 minutes depending on runs made etc. The midfield isn't rigid at all which means the opposition will struggle to effectively defend against them.

Having KP on your team in the field would definitely lift everyone else in the team's game, it's a totally psychological thing.

I didn't want to use a football example because obviously the team would improve if Özil wandered over for a game of 5s for half an hour.

Possibly, but it's a really crass comparison, simply because KP is not much liked amongst his contemporaries, and he has no physical impact on other players to help them.

I still don't get, other than he's good, that this comparison works remotely in any way whatsoever, in any type of situation ever.

Fine, Ian Bell then.

Yeah I'm glad that Yaya Toure has finally been mentioned. He is so important to City and I personally think he is the best midfielder in the League, narrowly ahead of Ozil with Lamela  3rd.
Is there an African nations cup this season? if there is City will miss him massively.

Yeah, it's fair to say but tough to explain. Ramsey's always been a fantastically talented and technically gifted player. It's easy to remember before his leg break he was held in much higher regard than Wilshere.
Tbf at that point Wilshere had only played in a handful of competitive games, so I don't think you can read much into that.

Ramsey was regarded as a greater talent than Bale initially too.

Might still prove to be so. His improvement this year has been exponential.

Kinda hateful the two most talented British players of their generation are both Leekists.

It is crap and really bad timing as we are on a great run at the moment. Am a huge Uwe fan and really wanted to go up with him, especially after last season, Wigan is a good job for him though.

Long term though it should not be a disaster, in fact it should not make a great deal of difference. Fare more important is the planning application for the new stadium, was being judged today but we have yet to hear the results, I really don't want to leave Griffin Park but I know that it needs to happen and more importantly is vital to the owners plans. If we get the new stadium, then that with the owner and sporting director in place means our long term prospects are good. In addition to that our current squad and league position are better than I can ever remember at a time when we have been looking for a new manager, is a pretty attractive job I would say.

I am going to make a point of going to the old ones before games, before they inevitably start to close at any rate.

Planning application approved. Weird day to be a Bees fan.
It's going to go to City Hall on appeal isn't it? I remember seeing the anti-new stadium movement saying that they would take any decision to Boris and possibly even the Secretary of State. Reckon this has still got a long way to go.

It has to go to the mayor of London yes but I can't really see it being a problem, have no doubt the objections will continue but these things are always opposed and tend to go ahead anyway.
