Jesus, that's why it helps to watch players. its pretty ****ing easy to sit there and go "herpy derpy" and mention buzzwords like 'new' 'inexperienced' 'bedding in period' blah blah. But to be rank, while a small period of adjusting maybe needed due to playing alongside new players, I see no reason why M'Villa wouldn't be a success. He's got all the attributes people have been asking for the the midfield they want us to sign and if he does flop it will be for reasons other than not being suited to the league which is why I think he will the a success.
Well, forgive me for being skeptical, but very few players with not much Champions League or international experience come to England and perform well enough to drastically improve a top-five side in their first season. Really, like, almost none, even when they previously looked awesome in their own division and turned out to be world-class in the long run. It just very rarely happens.

Still better than buying crap English players for ridiculous prices, but I'd back Liverpool anyway. They're well-organised in defence and the team has plenty of goals in it, neither of those things can be said of Arsenal.

I'm sure Arsenal fans would like to believe that they can bring in quality and they'll hit the ground running but it isn't a sure thing at all. Maybe it'll come together quickly but enough so that it'd make you "miles ahead of Liverpool" is just wishful thinking.

Could be tempted to say Koscielny too, had a pretty good start IMO.

Why wouldn't they improve the side though? Adding Wilshere, Song and Gervinho to the team who played Liverpool and I think we win the game, despite the defensive crisis we're in.

I can't see how adding players who despite their age have all made their names by carrying their teams in a strong league and who have genuine quality in them now doesn't improve the squad, not like they'll be thrown in to carry the team.

What we need right now is depth, and talented young players who've already played a fair bit in a good league imrpoves us immensely. It's not like adding a Jenkinson or a Frimpong. Honestly, adding a fit Diaby improves the team so much now.

But yeah, arsenals performance in the first two games obviously renders this a pointless discussion because all my opinions are invalid due to is having 1 point from 2 games. Get the **** off your high horse.
Of course it's possible they'll come to England and do well. It's also pretty possible they won't as well. Players have come to England with much bigger reputations and expected to do well with much more certainty than those two and flopped totally.

FWIW Liverpool are reasonably big favourites to finish above Arsenal this season on Betfair (Liverpool available to lay at 1.67 and Arsenal to back at 2.5). Obviously the market can be wrong, but it's pretty rare and not by that much.

Whereas £35m for Carroll, £20m for Henderson and £8m for Coates is sound business sense.
I've criticised the money spent more than anyone in this thread I reckon. Particularly Henderson. But I appreciate the thinking behind it.

 Ah, Gooners. So serious! I'm on a high horse because I think Liverpool have a slight edge at this present stage, but you're not for criticising me when I disagree that Arsenal would be "miles ahead"?

And appreciate the lolsy banter! I said the discussion was stupid. That discussion included me!

Have a tea.

No, you're on a high horse because of your petulant comment about "come back when you win a game or even score a goal".

It'd be great news, of course, especially if Wenger manages to pick out some quality. I just don't think it'll be enough to make you guys favourites to finish ahead of Liverpool.
