*Official* English Football Season 2011-12

International Coach
Never had a problem with Keown despite that, just an over zealous moment from a passionate player at the end, though the rest of the team coming in pushing was typical Arsenal at that time. For all Utd players get called for arrogance/victim complex, that Arsenal side were far far worse than any other team. Really believed their own hype and I think thats the route of the 'they don't like it up em' response of teams, because they always struggled when we took the game to them. Phil Nevilles job in centre midfield in another match springs to mind - wasn't pretty, but worked

Ring cheerleader of the ****s was Jens though. Deserved a red card every game just for breathing.

Gary Neville punditry on the money with regards to this as well. Reckon he's the best pundit going tbh. Speaks a lot of sense and I hardly ever disagree with him, far less objectionable than he was as a player for sure. Also far better than that **** Andy Gray.
Neville and Souness are good together, two pundits who have been at the top of the game and know their ****.

Love it when they're on with Redknapp, there's a definite air of smug superiority which eminates from those two towards Redknapp.

I was calling it 15 games ago tbf.

I personally don't think we'll win the title. A combination of United mental strength, their very easy run home and Sir Alex being a much better manager will (IMO) get them home. I, of course, hope beyond hope that it doesn't, but that's what I think. I think our only realy chance is to beat them when we play them, but in all honesty, if any team is going to beat us at home this season, can't you see it being them? Can't you just see them running out 3-1 winners from a Rooney double? I ****ing can. I've been watching it for the last 15 years of my ****ing life.

Oh and I think Arsenal will be a very very dangerous game for us as well and it's a terrible time for us to be facing them, with them rejuvenating their season and having the spuds falter, they have form and the illusion of something to play for.
Yeah their run home is pretty ridiculous (your mob aside). 4 average mid table teams with little to play for in those last 5 matches. If I was putting my money on anyone it would be them, but we are still talking about a solitary point seperating the top two after 28 matches. You've got a damn good team this year, and upsets happen to the best of teams.

Can't believe I was characterised as anything but a United hater by a United fan. I need a shower.

Was just generally disliked by the Arsenal team from events in the previous season iirc. Remember an FA Cup tie from the previous year (the one where Giggs went round Seaman and then put the ball over the bar) where some of the fouls he got away with bordered on ridiculous. Plus the game in question was just emotionally fraught, tensions running pretty high throughout, just all spilled over and he was the one who bore the brunt of it.

Kenny Dalglish: 'Kit deals and a happy club are as good as points' | Football | The Guardian

Wonder how genuine Liverpool fans feel about these comments tbh. Don't suppose I'd be too thrilled if a considerably under performing manager resorted to quoting sponsorship deals as evidence of his achievements.
There's a nasty twist in that article though. The "quote" in the title is completely fabricated, is it not? There are a few things I don't particularly like about Dalglish, but he hasn't said much wrong there.

EDIT: Nervous for tomorrow. We simply can't lose it. Reckon Suarez will tear it up, but I do hope Carroll and Henderson aren't near the starting eleven.

Yeah, suppose the title does take a rather generous portion of poetic licence in the way it's paraphrased what he's said tbf.

It would actually have been cheaper for Liverpool to buy Falcao, Mata and Sahin than Carroll, Downing and Henderson.

lol

Agree with the sentiment but none of those bar Falcao was a reality. I always have arguments to some deluded fans that the Carling cup and the FA cup really mean nothing these days. Top 4/CL is a must if any club wants to attract stars and grow.

Demonstrates how badly Dalglish overpaid for them though, as if it needed illustrating any more.

He definitely overpaid, but I think people have to realise we weren't going to get the superstars people name unless we'd been able to offer CL football. Those stars were not a reality, but we could've gotten other players and paid less at the same time.

That aside, not sure why he had so much trust in getting those British players. I would have rather he gotten foreign up and comers that would still come to a club like Liverpool as they couldn't demand a place in other top clubs. I would have rather he paid 35m for Lavezzi last year than Carroll. Also, I would have much rather kept Aquilani than buy Adam. It was just a bonehead move IMO. Adam doesn't have the quality for a top 4 side - or at least he has not demonstrated that.
