Bit sad if that turns out to be the case. Never been a huge fan of the guy, but was always a solid player, hope he pulls through.

I thought he was brilliant when he was at Crewe and just afterwards at Norwich and West Ham. Excellent finisher, awesome hold-up play (remember his performance in the FA Cup final against Liverpool?). I reckon he would be playing the Heskey role, better than Heskey does, for England now if it weren't for the fitness issues. Massive shame we never got to see whether he was up to it or not.

Not without precedent, is it? If memory serves Paul Elliott sued Dean Saunders for ending his career. Unsuccessfully tho but.

Think Martin Pringle and Charlton were in litigation with whoever it was who ended his career as well, again not sure how that turned out.

Find it hard to imagine that any court would rule in his favour if he does try and sue Wright-Philips though, unless it can be shown that SWP did something totally unexpected and unreasonable, Ashton having consented to a certain level of harm/physical contact and all that.
