Haha, poor old Alex, peaked at the ripe old age of 22 (or whatever he was), and then never played quite as well again, strange player.Alex ****ing Manniger.
Keano's double in the 2-1 come-from-behind win at Highbury in '99 is a personal favourite, as is Sharpe's hat trick in the 6-2 League Cup win in 1990. Conversely, watching Van Persie and Henry score in the last 10 mins in 2007 was ****ing painful. And until the day I die I will never, ever understand how we didn't win the FA Cup in 2005.Hmm, I remember those games- when it was United and Arsenal at the top- as the most exciting I've ever seen though. There was Arsenal's 3-2 job in '97, the 2-1 FA Cup semi-final replay, the 3-0 loss, the 6-1 win, the 2-2 at Highbury in '03, the 4-2 Vieira vs. Keane game... I'm being selective, sure, but those are the games that come to mind when I think of Arsenal-United.
When I think of Liverpool-United games, I think of cagy affairs. It typically finishes 1-0 or 2-0 and I just spend the entire game crapping myself.
One of the worst players I have ever seen play for Arsenal bar none, was an absolute liability. Would have more faith in Pascal Cygan. The one good memory I have of him is that on Fifa 2003 I scored a screamer from about 35 yards with him, that is literally the best thing he ever did. Will be seeing Igors Stepanovs play in just over a week as well as Fulham reject Andrejs Stolcers. Cult values through the roof.
I had a thought and came up with Moritz Volz as a possible contender...One of the worst players I have ever seen play for Arsenal bar none, was an absolute liability. Volz wasn't actually that bad imo, was perfectly reasonable, just not quite Arsenal class.I had a thought and came up with Moritz Volz as a possible contender...
Just gutted i won't get to see Marian Pahars, the best Latvian in history
At least he scored a number of semi-important goals. FA Cup Semi-Final against Wolves ftw.Christopher Wreh FTW
Haha, Kaba Diawara hit the bar once, is about the only thing I remember him doing. Jeffers at least got a couple of penalties through dodgy dives and his scoring record in games he started for Arsenal is actually pretty decent. Richard Wright, started so well but then went through a horrible run, my most striking memories of him were him punching the ball into his own net against Charlton and dropping the ball into the goal against Spurs after Poyet cracked one at him from about 30 yards out. Lydersen...I just remember his agent.Honourable mentions perhaps to Pål Lydersen, Richard Wright, Kaba Diawara and fox in the box Frannie?
He never seemed as bad to me as his subsequent reputation would suggest, but I don't claim to have watched him extensively.Chris Kiwomya
Yeah, think that's right.I don't really remember much of him at Arsenal, remember him being good for Ipswich as a youngster but he never seemed to be Arsenal class. Again one of the goons can correct me on this, but I think Kiwomya and Hartson were signed in the midtable period
I'm too young to remember the 3-3. My memories start at around the end of the '94-'95 season (****ing Ludek Miklosko) when I was 5.Keano's double in the 2-1 come-from-behind win at Highbury in '99 is a personal favourite, as is Sharpe's hat trick in the 6-2 League Cup win in 1990. You're right though, they invariably seem more memorable than the Liverpool equivalents - exceptions like the 3-3 at Anfield in '94 notwithstanding.
Yeah, both signed right at the end of the Graham era IIRC. Wasn't awful, but you're right - definitely never Arsenal class in a million years.I don't really remember much of him at Arsenal, remember him being good for Ipswich as a youngster but he never seemed to be Arsenal class. Haha, was going to mention Kaba Diawara. Will never forget the penultimate game of the '98-'99 season where he had about 3242423 chances to score and missed them all, then Hasselbaink knocked one in at the end to hand us the title.Haha, Kaba Diawara hit the bar once, is about the only thing I remember him doing. EDIT: Honourable mention to Glen Helder as well, who was also crap.
I remember it being Ljungberg TBH, but I'm getting on now and so my memory may not be what it once was.The game with the Keano double was a proper thriller. So much action, such quality. I believe it was Matthew Upson that scored that day.
