Norwood's on Fire
We won it in 90 and were runners up in 91. This of course was when John Barnes was a decent winger and wasn't ruining clubs with his inadequate defensive policies.

I wonder what the Tranmere board saw in John Barnes. His previous achievement in club management was having Celtic in third place in Scotland so the omens were not good.

It's a mystery to all of us, it really is.

We're on telly next Monday, could be embarassing. Next two games are winnable though as they are both at home (to Stockport and Brighton), so if we did somehow get six points it would probably buy Barnes another six games or so.

Almost feel sorry for the guy, not sure anyone deserves to have a whole ground singing and laughing at him, but he's just not good enough it is as simple as that.

I think somebody posted this before but ....

I'd rather Silvestre personally, at least you know you'll get 2 halves out of him .
On a serious note I't would improve our depth at the back somewhat.
I wouldn't want him playing, Djourou needs to be given a run of games if possible. Would potentially make an awesome addition to the coaching staff though.

BARNES OUT
Just watched the replay of City vs. Villa.

City has the best fans around I reckon, and gave a stark contrast to the Villa scum who spent the whole game booing their former captain. WAC.

Congrats to Richard Dunne and I hope he has a great career at Villa, the man won even more respect from me today. Sorely missed.

By saying how good Neville was.
I never said he was better overall than Johnson or Brown though. He isn't.
In all seriousness I think, form and fitness dependent, he's a real chance of the England squad. The fact that the solid but limited Upson is first reserve is frankly worrying. Rio in pretty average form too; the way Bellamy left him for dead for Citeh's equaliser made him look every second of his 31 years.

I know Sol's even older, but has always had concentration that Ferdinand could only dream of.
Oh dear.:unsure:He was getting showed up when he played for Notts County.

Probably because the Villa fans saw Barry leaving due to wanting more money whereas Dunne left amicably.

City have a massive scummy proportion. Although maybe when you live near any big football club you come into contact with their hardcore faction, I don't know.

Not sure who I would call the best fans around. Hard to think of a team that hasn't got a big core group of absolute scum but still fills their ground without parts of it feeling like a library.

The difference between Dunne's reception and Barry's was just in the fine print of their departures anyway. It's the same reason Tevez and Sparky got such contrasting reactions at Old Trafford.

DOn't see why the amount of fans should have any connection to who are the best fans. Newcastle have a lot of fans but given that 20% have walked away, they lose the 'best fans' title. Same goes for Portsmouth who are lauded as these great fans, well done there's twice as many of you as there was when you played in Division 1.

If a club only gets gates of 3000 but those fans are 100% loyal, than does a Premiership team really have 'better' fans because they fill their big stadium? Nah

Would the hardcore Everton fan who goes to every game and sings his ****ing heart out but beats the living crap out of anyone he sees wearing a different coloured shirt be a better fan than a come-and-go Chinese guy who supports whichever team Ronaldo plays for?

Hard to say, really. I'd much rather associate myself with the latter though.

Dunne left then absolutely slagged the **** out of the club and the staff.
I genuinely missed that. Not trying to be funny, but I thought it was reported as fairly amicable as these things go.

I think the big difference between Barry's & Dunne's cases were that the latter didn't overly want to move and may, were it not a world cup season, have taken his chances at Citeh. What seems to have riled the Villa fans was Barry's reported desire to move to a CL team, but then appeared to move for the dough, which is less noble seeming.

The sad thing is with Dunne is that as Wafer has now decided to seed the play-offs, Eire are a lot less likely to be in SA anyway; chances are they'll be playing someone like France, Portugal or Croatia now.

Slagged the **** out of the club?

It was difficult. They made it quite clear they didn’t want me there any more, so for me to have the opportunity to come to Villa was brilliant. I could have maybe sat and played in the reserves for the next three years, but for the manager here to show the faith he has was pretty pleasing. I’m not hurt to leave, I’m just hurt the way in which it was dealt with. It wasn’t the best way they went about things, but that’s a different story. For me I’m just pleased to be here and looking forward to many years playing at a club that’s stable.

I was at Manchester City for nine years and it was probably time to go our separate ways. I feel now it’s a fresh start.
He also hit out at Garry Cook for trying to sell him behind his back.

Why would the fans be angry at someone who loved the club so much he didn't want to leave, but ended up being an unfortunate casualty of the side moving forward? The alleged charitable nature of Citeh fans has nothing to do with it.
