GIMH to support this motion on the basis it would remove him from his post at Tranmere.

In all seriousness I think, form and fitness dependent, he's a real chance of the England squad. The fact that the solid but limited Upson is first reserve is frankly worrying. Rio in pretty average form too; the way Bellamy left him for dead for Citeh's equaliser made him look every second of his 31 years.

I know Sol's even older, but has always had concentration that Ferdinand could only dream of.

If he comes to us, realistically how many chances to play can he expect? Gallas and Vermaelen have been solid. He'd be first replacement in all likelihood and could feature in our cup games but providing G&V stay fit, he won't feature much at all.

Indeed, the fact that Bellamy is insanely quick and would have outpaced just about anyone seemed to get overlooked in the aftermath of that goal. Ferdinand not being anywhere near 100% fit certainly not helping his cause at the moment though either.
