Everyone's a glory hunting bastard, some pick teams that just aren't very good at providing it. So long as you don't switch teams, you're okay.

Ignore the fact that I was supposed to be a Liverpool fan when I was first flying over... there's a story behind that. :p
Do tell.

What people are these? Is this like that time you quoted miscallenous West Indian folk as suggesting that touring England four days earlier than they had in 2007 forced them to play in colder weather and hence made them crap?
The first Test of 2007 started on May 17 and the 2009 series on May 6. But yeah don't think I said that was the sole reason. Clearly was more mental than anything considering issues at the time which have now cause the current impasse and they'd manifested then. Simples.

Oh and the people are bitter Notts County fans and Sol Campbell haters.:)

Sven was on Talk Sport this evening and said that the aim of Notts County is to be in the Premier League in three years. They don't have a prayer so I detect another hefty pay off for Sven for another failure.

for me it been always the team that comes second in the first competitive game i watch ..
first WC football game i saw was W Germany getting beaten by Argentina in 1986
then Barcelona getting beaten by Milan in 1994.. and in english premier league it was Manu and arsenal winning everything ..when it came live in india ..so just hated them :)

thought when my fav team win after i start supporting them.. i don't feel sympathy to the team coming second

Haha, I can understand that actually, I often do something similar. As for Rose's enquiry as to my story, to cut it short my brother in law was an avid Liverpool supporter and that's the only person I knew in NZ that really supported a PL team. So I came over intending on supporting them. Tried hard to get into football by watching a few of their games (seven in fact) but fell asleep during every game... then watched them play United and, comparing to English-styled rugby at the time and New Zealand styled rugby at the time, thought Liverpool were the England to Manchester United's New Zealand. Was actually interested in a game for the first time, and have supported Manchester United ever since.

This was around the first year of the three years we didn't win anything, I believe.

Don't think my brother-in-law was best pleased with my choice, no less my best mate Dan, a City supporter known as Majin around these parts.

Yes. :ninja: When I was two.

Okay, so 2.5 years or whatever. That one time! You know. I started watching football in about 2004, I think.
Ha ha yeah, I knew what you meant - was just being a smart arse. TBF 2005 was the only year even in that "bad" run when United didn't win a trophy of some sort. They just weren't the trophies we really wanted.

Ah, I must have started watching in late 2004 then as I never saw us win anything until the Carling Cup. Still yet to see us lift the FA Cup, personally!

The snag is more that they gave a crap manager some resources and expected results.
Admittedly it was a silly appointment but they didn't give him resources. They sold half of last season's team that did reasonably well and didn't give him the resources to adequately replace them. Chairman who appoint a manager and then sack him after 11 games need to look closely at their own judgement and credentials.

I do agree with this and I feel a little sorry for Barnes, Johnson is the main culprit, but I don't think Barnes would ever have been good enough
