Odds on Fergie buying before the transfer window ends? He said he wouldn't, which makes it increasingly likely he will but I think he has made a mistake in thinking he could get another season out of Giggs and Scholes.

Man U traditionally start slowly but they have had a gimme of a start. Gets tougher in the next few weeks, finish the month with Arsenal at home.
The same Giggs and Scholes who have been decent so far?

I know he started out on the left yea. But for 45 mins i watched, it seemed as if he & Giggs where in interchanging alot.

So the mid-field was really a flat 4-4-2. On TV it looked like:

---------------------------------------------Owen-----Rooney-------------------------------------------------------------

Anderson--------------------------------------Giggs-------------------------------------------------------------Park

------------------------------------------------Carrick------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even so Carric/Fletcher mid-field as the main mid-field combination is worrying. We need Hargreaves back of course, but i seriously think SAF should consider looking for another option TBH. I say one of Toulalan, Senna or M Diarra ATS.
Carrick and Fletcher played the majority of games last year in midfield so I hardly see why it's worrying now?

Oh and yeah didn't watch the match yesterday. Was at work.

The mid-field didn't win the league for United. It was the strike force. We need a stronger back-up because behind Carrick/Fletcher, Anderson has not stepped up & Hargreaves is unknown ATM. So SAF really needs to think quick between now & the close of the transfer window.

Clearly Scholes role last season as "United's Pirlo" had diminished. He was not getting forward much & given he can't tackle, he really IMO should have been sold last season. The man is passed his peak.

Giggs indeed adapted well to a more central role, since he must never play on the left again. But given his age, he could decline during this season which is dangerous. If the CL Final was a guide, Giggs againts a strong opposition mid-field will struggle this season.

....But overall my real concern with United is Rooney scoring goals, Rio staying fit, Foster impressing & Owen & Brown regaining form. Since its England im studying this season. So if SAF wanna play stubborn i sorta dont care, but i dont want to see stupidness

Yeah, was that the same sort of time period as the Djemba Djemba Djemba Djemba Djemba Djemba Djemba Djemba Djemba Djemba Djemba fiasco?
Indeed, along with Forlan, Kleberson, Bellion etc all in the same couple of years. Still brings a tear to my eye, and not in a good way.

I watched the full replay of the United match already knowing the score and expecting the worst and was still shocked by how poor we were. Slow, unimaginative and lacking any kind of spark or inspiration. Why did Fergie change the entire midfield for the second game of the season? Anderson needs a run of games but not on the left wing and it says something that a bloke in his 36th year was our best player against a team who are hot favourites for relegation.

The knees have been jerking a bit too much as expected over the past couple of days so it's too early to say anything definitively so early in the season, but a major backlash against Wigan would be nice, as would a £30.75m striker I won't embarrass by naming actually looking remotely worth the money.

Norwood's on Fire
Leeds away tomorrow. Broke and not going. I am shamefully glad about this. Once the Ashes ends I'll get hooked on this season. Bolton at home will be just the tonic.

I'd trust his judgement of players he sees everyday rather than yours or mine. Transfers is different but players he trains, yeah I'd expect him to know what they're capable of. Which is why Fletcher was kept around despite the abuse. So Gibson and Anderson will be getting chances as will Ljajic when he comes. There're also Matty James and Davide Petrucci who look class from all reports.

Also, Giggs only played out of necessity. Anderson was carrying an injury, Gibson was too raw to put up against Barca, Fletcher was banned and Hargreaves was injured. Only other big game he started was against Chelsea and even then he was given loads of rest, so yeah, Giggs will be fine.

Scholes sold? Nah. If he starts getting forward more like he did against Birmingham he'll pop up with some good stuff. But yeah, he shouldn't be deep anymore.
The case for the defence rests.
Was just being a pedant really.
And decent wins you what?
Nothing if one's expecting Giggs and Scholes to rack up loads of appearances.
