Don't think much of him as a player at all.

Never mentioned anything about him as a bloke.
I think he is an underrated footballer, his pace always means his going to be threat but his also a strong lad, upper body wise his pretty well built, not the greatest with the ball but his work rate is second to none, use to drop back all the time for Rovers and compete in the midfield and he can finish. Just a shame he didn’t do himself any favours at Liverpool, would have been good to see him and Torres together.

Yeah he is a good player, was especially effective at Newcastle alongside Shearer. What stops him being really top class is that he has never scored enough goals.

Reckon Ritchie De Laet is a signing for Royal Antwerp. They couldn't afford to sign him back so they got us to pay for him. The guys looks useless. Watch him get loaned back to Royal Antwerp in 1.2.3.

Oh dear Rafa.
He made some decent points. Unfortunately his reading of an encyclopedia worth of points regarding Utd and their preferentil treatment while pretending the club he manages is some sort of lower of lower league minnow made him look a bit mental and thus in the media's eyes may have rendered any meaningful arguments worthless.

He contradicted himself within the space of about thirty seconds, thus making himself look like a goon, which is what in my eyes rendered it worthless.

"On November 1, Manchester United played against Hull and Mr Ferguson received a two-match touchline ban and was fined £2,000 after the game for confronting Mike Dean and for improper conduct.

"He is the only manager in the English league that cannot be punished for these things."

Nah top player and top bloke for mine. He just can't stay on the field and has a problem with drink.
Incidentally, Bellamy does a strange amount of charity in Africa, apparently has some foundation going in Sierra Leone and despite his façade and chav tattoos he is one of the more articulate Premiership footballers around.
Hmm, some of my Stepdad's clients have done business with him and let's just say they do not speak kindly about him

In fairness to him, he's not a native English speaker and could easily have misspoken when he said Ferguson cannot be punished. He might have meant he cannot be punished appropriately, which is to say that he was implying that a small fine and touchline ban was not enough.

Either way, I'm delighted to see someone finally come out in the media and criticise Ferguson like this - the amount that Ferguson gives out ("I wouldn't sell Real Madrid a virus", etc), it's about time someone kicked off at him. This wasn't a Keegan-style rant, either. It was a calmly-delivered, factually-based list of incidents which back up his claim that Ferguson escapes punishment by virtue of who he is. There wasn't the slightest hint of a raised voice or a glimpse of anger. Extremely good media strategy from Benitez, wish more managers would express their grievances like that.

Really hope Liverpool win the title now.

From the Independent:

The court heard that some time between 1am and 1.30am Bellamy caught the eye of Miss Palmer, who was walking in the opposite direction to him in the congested corridor which leads between the Champagne VIP bar and the Champagne VIP lounge.

Bellamy's barrister, John Charles Rees QC, asked his client whether anything was said, to which he replied: "She just asked me what I was looking at."

When asked what he said in reply to Miss Palmer, Bellamy said: "Not you. If I was looking at anyone it would be those two girls over there. They're far prettier than you." Bellamy told the court there were not actually two girls behind Miss Palmer at the time and added that there could have been bad language between the pair during their exchange.

Mr Rees said: "What did she do?" Bellamy replied: "She slapped me in the face." When asked whether he was expecting that, Bellamy replied: "No, not at all."

Benitez's rant is hypocritical to say the least.

Rafa Benitez January 2009

"Two years ago we had a lot of early kick-offs away on Saturdays when United were playing on Sundays. And we didn't say anything"

Rafa Benitez September 2007

"We will analyse it and talk with the Premier League. We will see how to stop this situation, but if you play on Tuesday, for example, in an international break, it will be easier. In the Champions League, if you play on Wednesday, you must play on Sunday. In Spain it’s like this. The television companies decide on early kick-offs on Saturday, so someone needs to talk to them as well. If you want your teams at the top of the Champions League, then protect them.”

That is of course ignoring that Ferguson's been charged about comments he's made more than once.

He also failed to note that Wenger agreed with Ferguson about fixtures. Pathetic attempt. Fergie was probably laughing the entire time when he saw the vid.

Also, don't see that Benitez hasn;t made mention of the times he's complained about refs and that he's never said anything about Gerrard's diving.

Quite simply.... Laugh everytime I see the clip.

Have you not seen any of the irony in any of it?!

Just as Ferguson is generally out of order when he comes out with one of his rants (ie after Portsmouth in the FA Cup last year), Benitez is talking mostly bollocks here given it applies to him too. And additionally the notion that Ferguson gets away with stuff is generally untrue, as Benitez humorously noted in his own press conference.

I'm not saying Benitez isn't vulnerable to criticism himself, and I'm certainly not saying that all the points he made were 100% valid. I was just praising him for airing his grievances in a more controlled manner, rather than having a Kinnear-style outburst, and for not being cowed by the influence Ferguson obviously holds.

Our season and Tis' record over.

Can't defend without Matty Taylor.

Still, it was good whilst it lasted, just need a bit more depth in the squad.

Fair enough, in which case I'd certainly agree that this is fairly incomparable to Keegan's rant.
