*Official* English Football Season 2007-08

Never been fan of the flat 4-5-1 formation, the Christmas tree formation at a stretch. 4-4-2 for mine though, maybe go 4-5-1 late in the game, but if you have to go that way, then Crouch is the man.

Little Sammy Lee gets the arse

From the Beeb.

Not a huge surprise, really, given how gash their start's been. Gary Speed as player/manager then?

Shows quite how much Fat Sam's achievements with yer Trotters should be respected too, rather like Curbs's at Charlton. Both teams (with pretty much the same personnel, give or take) have collapsed after the bosses left.

This is the Guardian's Football Unlimited take on the matter.

Sorry, I didn't manage to copy the picture of Big Sam & Mini-me, but others will be able to, I'm sure.

Agreed - for those read O'Neil at Leicester too. Though it seemed he was always given at least close to the credit he deserved for what they did.

It turns out there was no truth in the 4-5-1 rumours - Owen & Rooney are both playing.
Good show. Just seen Lescott's in the team. Hmm. Thought he looked decidely ordinary in the second half against Estonia. Bit of a kick in the cods for Shorey, who's done little wrong that I've seen.

Pick that out! Magic volley from Rooney. Great knock down from Owen from nothing more than a punt upfield, really.

Route one ftw.

Oh. Are England playing already?
Ha. Yeah, SS1. Combo of time diff & the Russian winter I think.

Actually, Rooney looked offside when he scored , albeit very marginally, after seeing the replay. Benefit of the doubt to the striker tho, which is fair enough provided he's not playing against a team I'm supporting.

Quality finish but one wonders how that Russian fellow who’s at least 6, 2 allowed a midget to beat him in the air.

**** me, Gerrard has missed an absolute sitter. Totally unmarked at the far post with half the goal to aim at & sticks it wide. :-O

Bet that comes back to haunt us.

And sure enough .....

Bloody Gerrard though. Still massively over-rated imo.
