Roberts will work hard no doubt but is nothing more than a Championship player
I actually think you've got that the wrong way around. He has all the makings of a very good striker. He's quick, strong, can link up well and can score goals. However, from what I've seen of him at Wigan, he's lazy. When he played with Ellington, he let the Duke do all the hard work and just messed about on the other side. I didn't see as much of him with Camara as I've only been to two Premiership games, but from what I saw and what I was told it was more or less the same and he seemed to develop that thing where whenever a centre back challenged him in the air he fell over, claiming he were fouled. He also conspired to miss the easiest chances.

From what I have seen of Roberts, not at lot to be honest, just Wigan’s away encounters against Millwall. He never struck me as a player who possessed anything more than a good turn of pace and decent upper body strength, he ran the channels all game and worked hard but he never looked that special. But if you comments are correct at least it is a bit more positive because Hughes (and Roberts himself) can address such points. Only one game in though, see how he gets on against Everton mid week.

Much as i dislike Mark Hughes (reasons are obvious) i like to see pederson and bentley doing well, and getting rid of Dickov can only be a great move if you ask me

Bentley is a decent player, good feat, can take people on but he really does lack pace, alarmingly so. Hence the reason why he has to always come inside to play because if you take the guy over to the wing his never going to skip pass you, unless Michael Gray or Dominic Matteo are playing for the opposition (please). In regard to Mark Hughes, I too hate Man U with a passion, even now when they seemingly do not win stuff but his a decent bloke, meet him at the airport once when he was manager of Wales, very polite and more than an accommodating.

Hughes should have been off for numerous indescrescions (the usual dirty niggles and backing in etc) in the match, fluked a long range equaliser in stoppage time -->Oldham don't win another match in the league and get relegated when we were pretty comfortable before the match --> years of hurt

That stamp from Michael Brown on Giggs was an absolute disgrace, if he doesn't get suspended for that it just highlights how stupid football is (he got a yellow card for it, dunno whether they're allowed to reassess stuff like that in the Premiership). The guy should get banned for the season.

If he got a yellow card it's because the ref has seen it, so I very much doubt there'll be any future banning.

My predictions:

1. Manchester United - if we get one more signing
2. Chelsea
3. Liverpool
4. Tottenham
5. Arsenal

18.Charlton
19.Sheffield United
20.Watford

Last year I called it for Chelsea to win and for United to finish second so this year I'm reversing and hoping for my predictions to come through again.

And I believe the only footballer I have heard of to spell his own name wrong on his transfer request when West Brom got relegated in 02-03

As for Paul Dickov, didn't he start off at Arsenal, but I guess him being rubbish clearly they would have got rid of him. I thought it was a bit odd when Pearce said "He is a proper footballer" when he announced that he had signed.

Oba Martins should now be a Newcastle player soon enough.

Jeffers, Roberts and McCarthy interesting but not particularly exciting signings for a fan. Jeffers has done **** all for the past three years, Roberts will work hard no doubt but is nothing more than a Championship player and McCarthy yeah he has all the right qualities, pace, strength, good in the air yet his record and temperament suggest that he will not amount too much and Porto for the best part of two years have been wanting to get rid. Blackburn also need to address the midfield situation where Tugay is not getting any younger, we have no one who can actually pass other than Tugay, Pedersen is a fantastic striker of the ball and scores great goals yet his contribution in terms of supply, is non existent. I'm very concerned at the moment and I was throughout last season even though are position in the league would suggest otherwise.
And I believe you've got two centre-backs injured and two suspended for the Everton game? Could be another hiding on the cards.

Don't know about a hiding (that could occur on the weekend) but we have always struggled to beat Everton. Though incidentally I think we won are last game against them (away) with a very depleted team, Jonathan Stead () scoring the only goal.

Poor move, he should realise Newcastle make a habit out of ruining or delaying a good footballers career...

Also why would you sign for a club that only last week were making disparaging comments about your 'age'.
