Liverpool have great home form, but dire away form. Based on that i bet someone a £1 that Blackburn would win yesterday, and that they did.
Must have felt good bankrupting someone with a £1 bet, hope you were generous enough to get them a cola bottle with your winnings to make them feel better.

Mascherano off to Juventus (well almost) http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/dec27e.html

Hardly gets a game so it is for the best. I never understand why Argentines never appat to England yet they do for Italy, I can only think it is the pace of Serie A that suits and I suppose Spanish is close to Italian then it is to English (but they are all Latin languages anyway) as some words mean the same thing (ie 'Oro' is Spanish and Italian for 'gold') and perhaps it is a lifestyle thing. But if you can survive in Sao Paolo then you can survive in London.

Word in the office is that Micah Richards is joining Chelsea on Monday for £18m...thoughts Dave...

£18m? Have Chelsea gone mad? He is not even worth that amount. Take £10m off and it would be a fair price. Heck there are plenty of good full backs out there for a fraction of that price.

If Citeh (and Oldham) are not laughing all the way to the bank then something is wrong with them. If he was going anywhere then I would have first said Arsenal or Tottenham. But if it goes ahead as speculated then fair play to City and to an extent Oldham. Bet John Sheridan could buy at least half a dozen players with that amount they would get with their sell-on fee. Perhaps more?

Ah right yeah it would be helpful for Dave's team. How is the money situation at Tranmere? Does the club have money to spend or only rely on free transfers/loans/players on nominal fees and as a whole a lot of clubs rely in League 1 and beyond?

We're comfortable, but if we bring players in in January (which God knows, we should), I imagine they will be frees/loans or small fees. We paid £50k for Kevin Ellison last summer and it was the first time we'd paid for a player since, I think, the 01-02 season. I suppose that's why we're not in dire straights anymore though, the money does get well managed.

£3.6M would be a nice New Year Bonus and would mean we could afford to keep all our youngsters, sign Sean Gregan and probably get an extr striker in. (Atm if Porter gets injured were stuffed). Hopefully Citeh can push the fee up to £25M

Figo off the Saudi club, hope for Beckham to get a regular first team place could be real good if Inter still want him.

Thought Chelsea may have wanted Miguel more, but don't think Citeh will sell..

Nah Cameronesi is supposed to be joining up in June. Buffon keeps getting linked, but they don't need him, I mean Julio Cesar has proven himself well and has made two penalty saves this season which counts for something IMO.

But didn't Cameronesi along with Nedved, Buffon pledge to stay with Juve this season to help them get back to Serie A by next season.

Without sounding xenophobic, this is Italy you're talking about here.

Italy is not an anomaly, your comment isn’t xenophobic its just not particularly conscious of football as a whole. Jermain Defoe, Joe Cole, Alan Smith… the list is endless of footballers who committed themselves to a cause and suddenly after the realisation had settled in thought better of it.

Mario Cameronesi is different however, he stated before Juve’s demotion that if the Old Lady were sent down for match fixing he would be off, he doesn’t want to play in Serie B, his in his prime as a footballer and wants to compete at the highest level, nothing wrong with that. He finally did say he would stay with Juve because he has a great affection for the club (regardless) and how they bettered him as a player. Ironically its Juventus who now want rid because Mario alongside Buffon and David Trézéguet is their only viable assists.

Italy is probably one league where you see loyalty more evident with its players. Unlike the Premiership/La Liga players such as Totti have stayed with their club through thick and thin and goal scoring machines like Cristiano Lucarelli have stayed with their local clubs not for the money but for their affiliation with the town and the club. And if by chance they do leave their love for their former club is always apparent, Alessandro Nesta has said that first thing he does after playing for AC Milan is to checked how the Biancocelesti got on. And Paulo Di Canio took a ridiculous low wage from Lazio to play for them instead of getting the basic £25,000 any Premiership club would have offered him at the time. Even more examples, Álvaro Recoba playing a season for Inter Milan without pay because of the loyalty the club showed him. Former Italian international Damiano Tommasi playing for AS Roma for £500 a week because of the faith and support the Giallorossi showed him when he did his knee in. We can't see Michael Owen refusing his £100,000 week wage with Newcastle now can we?

Don't you mean Francesco Coco?

And if anybody who remembers him and wonders what has happened to him, he sits there rotting in the reserves, waiting to January to be sold/loaned off. Sampdoria has been mooted in the past, maybe he will join them or a team like Siena or Catania perhaps. That is a fall of grace for you, a member of Italy's 2002 World Cup squad to this

Fair point, but I've always considered the likes of Totti an exeption: there are a number of players who have represented two or three of the top clubs, and you have big name players transferring to their club's 'rivals'. How many big name clubs had Fabio Cannavaro played for (and he's the sort of player you would expect to be loyal)? Over here it's pretty rare to have players transferring between United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. I'd need some more examples to back up my argument though.

Angelo di Livio is another you should mention: didn't he stay with Fiorentina when they were relegated to Serie C2 or something? He was at the end of his career though.
