tbh, i'm glad england didnt win this game, and i hope they get beaten again on wednesday, for the simple reason that they are an terribly tedious setup, regardless of who is in charge, it just simply isnt interesting, watching them is a painful, dull and boring experience, and the european championships will be a greater pleasure to watch if they are not in it. Year after year we see england stodge tediously through mediocre qualifying groups only to foul up repeatedly on the grand stages. If england get to the tournament which of course they will of course i shall support them, but i'm just not interested in this qualfying rubbish when small teams that should be seen off easily continue pose england considerable problems. Its much more interesting to watch scotland or northern ireland...but seeing as england wont win the euro, i'm ******* for germany.
I agree with most of that except for the Germany bit,and i do get behind England in major tournaments. Qualification is increadibly tedious and England are dull and totaly uninspring. I do find results like that on saturday amusing due to the moaning and farcical team sugestions that come from England fans. There is though only so much entertainment that can be had from that and it soon adds to the pathetic part of football which is England. Id much rather be watching Brentford or Argentina. Either extreme of Football is far better than we get from England matches.

Gerrard should be dropped to give him a kick up the backside, still you didn't even watch the game so you won't have seen his laziness which directly led to two decent chances for Macedonia. Not to mention his incredibly smart lunge on the edge of England's penalty area which got him a yellow card and suspended for Croatia (bonus).

Not to mention the fact that he was absolutely awful all game anyway.
Yes, dropping players on the basis of one bad game is always a good plan, especially when it's one of your best players. It's been the foundation of many a solid World Cup and European Championship campaign.

Except he's always been average for England and there'll hopefully be no shortage of possible replacements for the England game after Croatia - It's not like he's being dropped to the bench in the final of a World Cup here.

I just read somewhere, that Steven Gerrard clearly has French blood in him...

too bad theyre all crap.
Since the next proper match after Croatia is in March there's a fair chance Joe Cole, Lennon, Hargreaves might be available then. If you want to count the friendly in November then there's still a chance some of those might be available.

Not crap, but Nolan, Parker et al aren't in Stevie G's league as players.
I don't really care what 'league' you say they're in as long they perform for England if necessary.

Funny how a player who 3 months ago was part of the greatest side England have had in years (and who you never criticised at all) is now terrible and it's all his fault.

Remind us who you criticised 3 months ago?

Yes, Cole will quite rightfully replace Downing, Hargreaves will replace Carrick and Lennon will remain the impact player that he is (since he's fair better in that role with his pace)

I think this poem/phrase sums up how our wonderfully talented football team has been so frustrating:

6 years ago today I got married
6 years ago today was the last match at Wembley
6 years ago today in the pouring rain we lost 1-0 to Germany
6 years ago today Kevin Keegan resigned
6 years on my marriage is great.
6 years on England are worse

Covering for the hole created by the selection of Downing I presume.
The guy who was absolutely awful covering for the guy who created all the chances, well done marc you're being completely stupid as usual. Someone let me know if and when marc posts anything worth replying to folks.

Really guys, does "discussion" have to descend into petty rows all the time? EVERY Monday morning I check this thread to see two pages of squabbling. It's ruining the thread.

Seriously is there any good footballers in England?
of course there are.
England and Spain both have the best leagues in the world and both contain quality players from that country. Neither of them though have had any sucess at international level.

England will almost certainly reach Euro 2008 and almost certainly not win it.

It was sarcasim on my part Pothas.

Anyway Palermo are in the pole position to buy Emre should Newcastle decide to sell in January, although Juventus could make a bid depending on their league positioning came the same date. And I've read they are going to the CAS to see if they can get some more point discounts :@ :mad2: :wallbash:

Should of been on -30 with what they deserved in Serie B. :@
