Because he can neither hit a barn door nor control a football effectively. A lankier version of Emile Heskey with less pace.

what does this translate as

"Lærer strippet på nettet mens elevene så på "
Ah. Now I get you. Bloody euphemisms.

(not sure I can translate that without getting in trouble with James, but "strippet" is the key word :p )

I'd assume "elevene" means "students" and "Laerer" means "teacher?

Owen has picked up an injury i do hope it isnt serious or Newcastles progress will just stop. I fullly expect Crouch to play against Austria, I dont think it will matter too much if owen isnt fit because defoe is an excellent replacment

Defoe has had ONE good game for England. The rest of them he's been completely useless. He isn't an excellent replacement - partly because no matter who is on the pitch, Sven still manages to find a formation that doesn't suit them, but partly because he doesn't have the instinct that Owen has. He tends to create his own goals rather than finishing off others' good work - you don't get the space to do that in international football. If Crouch plays against Austria, don't expect anything other than hit-and-hope football from England - without Rooney, that seems to be the only way the England side know how to play, if the Portugal game is anything to go by.

I half-hope Owen fails at Newcastle, because that'll force him to move on again and not waste his career at a club who are going nowhere with the Premiership's worst manager, despite being one of the biggest teams in the country. Plus Newcastle play my team today and we're in desperate need of a win. :p

He is injured, not even Souness would pick Ameobi over Owen if he didn't have to.

wow Manure got lucky today, a dodgy penalty and then one that should have been offside.
Who really cares? Saturday's big game was Alloa and Partick. Perfect result and the mighty Jags are up to 3rd

Ferdinand was pretty poor. But Park was very good - instrumental in all three goals.

Good win for The Arsenal tonight. My heart sunk a bit when I saw we were playing the Spanish goalkeeping equivalent of a panic attack (surely Mart Poom must be better?!?!), but he didn't do too badly. Hope Pires doesn't take too many more pens, mind. Best you could say about his is that it went in!

I bet SP is putting the bunting up already.... :D
What did I say about Pires being poo with penalties!?!? :@
