Most probably, though i don't like jumping on the "Smiths **** in any position" bandwagon. He has talent and works very hard and is willing to apply himself like a lot of moaners around. Will have to see where he goes from here.
I didn't say "Smith's ****" - I just meant that he doesn't seem to have found a role that suits him yet, which is a shame because he is a talented and comitted player. He could have been very valuable to England had he developed his skills as a forward - if he decides to try and make a living as a defensive midfielder, however, I can't see him representing his country again.

Don't worry i know you didn't, there just seems to be quite a few who do!! :) I agree he prob won't end up representing England in the midfield role but i think he sees that as the only option at the time being with the 3 R's ahead of him. I suppose he would prefer to stay at Utd rather than go somewhere else as a striker. An interesting choice, but one he has nonetheless made.

intresting how carlos has never actually played on the wing then isnt it.
He does it virtually every game, tho I guess you've obviously seen every game he's ever played in going by that judgement.

He certainly was bombing down the left this evening but to no avail. And he also shot on site anywhere within 40yards of goal. With about as much effect as a legless Iain Dowie.

A choice which perhaps is symbolic of the attitude of the modern footballer.

Regular football, moderate success, moderate (by footballers' standards) wages, and better chances of an international game? Nah.

Occasional football out of position, greater chance of success but as a less acknowledged part of it, astronomical wages, and no chance of international football? Yes, please!

Football seems to take a back seat to everything it possibly can these days, especially money.

I'm just thankful one of those things is now cricket. :D

as much as i hate to say it i dont suppose that will be the case by december, the ashes will be long forgotten in the eyes of many of who picked up an intrest in the summer months, a great shame indeed.

Yes, but at least cricket will now be able to say, when football fans come up with the inevitable "cricket's boring" thing, "when was the last time the England football team could lay a (fairly) legitimate claim to being the best side in the world? And when was the last time they won anything?". I love my footy, but I love cricketers and cricket fans far more than footballers and football fans. I'm glad cricket has something to take pride in when football inevitable resumes it's place in the calendar.

well...fair enough, but can you give an example of a game in which he has actually played on the left wing for any side ? bearing in mind that wingback doesnt count.

Good to see Owen scoring early for Newcastle & it think Man U draw at Anfield is a good result, since i reckon not many sides will a result their this season....

Well said, Engish cricket fans are, in general, a credit and not a liability..

and who might that be ? 8-)

as for scholes, just because he hasnt scored any goals yet doesnt mean hes playing more defensively, i myself havent really noticed much difference in his play apart from in the game today which due to its nature is understandable.
Essien's a definite possibility. He wanted to go to United before Roman seduced him. :D

I'll be interested to see how Giggs goes this season. Looks a permanent bencher atm.Hopefully that changes soon.

Did Park play at all? Even a minute on the pitch would do for my fantasy team.

I see David James has backed calls for Rooney to seek help in order to curb his temper, James said: "Of course a sports psychologist can help - it's certainly helped me."

Wow, what a ringing endorsement.
He needs anger management that is for certain.

He better watch himself, because one day he is going to come up against a player bigger and tougher then him and he will prompley put him on his backside and make him look like the biggest idiot in the planet (Rooney).

AC Milan lose, Real Madrid lose and I'm tipping that Luxemburgo will get sacked very soon by this idiot called Perez.

Anyone wants to take a bet until he has a job? I'm tipping he will get sacked by the end of November.

BTW where is James in all of West Ham's great start to the season?
