I am now just waiting for souness too be sacked because it really is inevatible as he was the wrong man from the start. He has solved none of the problems form last year. The midfeald has a lot of good players in it but they are all very similar sort of players that drive forward and there is no creativity or witdth. He has got rid of players that he doesnt like the atitude of in robert and bellamy but has he got much needed replacements for them? no. I wait with intrest too see what he does befor the window closes but if he goes and buys some players and then is sacked they are probably in even more of a mess

Well Villa were in desparate need of a striker so i guess its a reasonable move, if he plays like he did in euro 2004 its a great move but more likely too see the Barros of liverpool which i think will be ok for villa even despite the fact he never looks up when with the ball. For liverpool it is a fairly good fee and alows the way for owen

it might but a lot of people have been encouraging Owen to stay at the Bernabeau & he looks as if he wants to stay........

Well Campbell has scored 3 goals in his last 39 premiership games, Earnshaw scored 11 in 31 appearances (a lot of those as sub) in the premiership last season.

Edit: That should be 4 goals for Campbell, crap either way, Earnshaw has 8 from 15 in internationals too
strikers are there to do more than score goals, as far as dennis bergkamps scoring record goes in the last few years he hasnt scored many, but hes a great player non the less, admitably kevin campbell isnt anywhere near bergkamps class but....

i dont see what his problem is, his position at real madrid is no worse than it was last year, the same period last year he had 3 strikers ahead of him that he had to compete with to get in the team, that is the same now. If anything his position is stronger considering he has established himself in spain now and doesnt have to do anymore settling in, if i were him i would stay at real without any doubts in my mind at all.

So playing for country is unimportant then - even in a friendly? I don't get the British attitude.
There's no reward for winning friendly games.

I consider that meaningless that if it's not on terrestrial TV I won't walk half a mile to the pub to watch the game.

It is funny that when Astralia beat England 3-1 at Upton Park two years ago it is dismissed as a meaningless match that doesn't count, but had England won it probably would have been that this is proof that the Aussies wouldn't know how to play football and were obviously rubbish.
Which is why English people were calling it meaningless before the game?

I'm still waiting for someone in my team to score a goal... and I wish Bryan Robson would stop being such an idiot as usual and pick Earnshaw instead of some old duffer.
Why change it when the player he picks scores goals?

There is some thing called pride which is dented for one team and a lot of pride which is gained for another even in these friendlies. :p

its very rare that competitions are won on pride alone, and im afraid beating any team in a friendly no matter how convincing doesnt gain a lot of pride for a team either imo, certainly not the big nations.

Such wins give the lesser nations a lot of inspiration for the future.

Bangladesh vs Australia was a meaningless round robin match but one the people of that country will speak for ages if not ever.

I refer you back to Campbell's awesome goal scoring record over the last 3 seasons. Also WBA have only scored 2 goals in their 2 Premiership games so far.
