I don't hate scousers. I just don't like being associated with them.Agent TBY said:Why would a scouser-hater be happy when they score?
Not really.Scaly piscine said:I hope it doesn't go to penalties, then it just becomes a joke
Whatever, still plenty of luck involved when the keeper decides which way to dive.Pratyush said:Not really.
Penalties is about nerves much more than luck.
Often, games where the sides are evenly matched just cancel each other out. On other occasions, the sides are just too scared. Then you get the occasions where it's too one-sided, and then you get the cruncher - I don't watch all the FA Cup finals, therefore it's perfectly reasonable for me to accept that there have been better ones - just that I haven't seen them.Pratyush said:Wow,, big praise.
Super points. When I started watching football, I saw two big teams and thought - wow this should be a good game. The cancelling each other out aspect is some thing which is so common and annoying.luckyeddie said:Often, games where the sides are evenly matched just cancel each other out. As I write, delighted that Teddy's scored his penalty - even if he is an ex-red Dog.

1) It is not the same as tossing a coin.
2) Can I know a better way to resolve games then? Luck is a factor all through out the games. What penalties does is increases the luck factor but it is not the be all and end all. If teams want to not leave it till the last moment (penalties), they have to try and be good enough to close out games before such a situation arises. Else, they have only themselves to blame if they loose in the penatly stage.
How so? You need skills for penalties and luck, regardless of how large, is one of the factors. For tossing a coin, luck is the only factor.Scaly piscine said:1) In effect, yes it is
But those extras don't compose 30 minutes each time. NBA has 6 minutes, Baseball - 1 inning takes less than 30 minutes and all the players aren't involved all the time, so it is very much feasible.Scaly piscine said:2) Keep playing 30 minutes of extra time til one side wins, but have proper rest intervals. One extra substitution allowed for each separate 30 minutes. Even in hugely commercial yank sports they have indefinite extra time like this. Baseball has extra innings, ice hockey and american football have sudden death overtime, basketball has extra periods.
But the result is not decided by playing football, doesn't matter whether you decide the game on coin tossing, tiddly winks, a game of chess or a penalty shootout - that's not the game of football.Pratyush said:How so?
