I wonder how much the long trip to Romania will take out of the players before tomorrow's FA Cup Semi Final?

Apparently Ballack has agreed to to terms with Chelsea but he is yet to sign the contract.

Good memory there!

It is mainly that yes - would be a superb achievement for a man who 12 months ago all the fans wanted sacked!

Is the Spurs game on first, then maybe I can record both (have this fancy gizmo called a DVD recorder)?

Although Shearer's now offically retired. To be bad he never won anything at St James'.

Always had respect for him.

Wash your mouth out young man. :-O But yes, the Arsenal game is on first. :p

Football packed day for me, off to the pub to watch t'mighty Gooners, then going to watch Cambridge City play Newport live (Christ knows why, I'm a United man, but City have a vagueish prayer of making the Conference South play-offs so I got out-voted) & then back to pub for Chelski-Scousers semi.

Once again that there Terry Enry bloke proves Scaly totally wrong - utterly brilliantly taken goal by a class striker.

A superb match.. Spurs, despite that brilliant goal from Henry, will be more than happy with the 1 point.

Oh wow, he scores one decent goal after missing plenty of chances over the season - oh wait, you're not allowed to mention all the chances he misses are you?

So one good shot makes him a god then

Don't be silly, Scaly.

I think I can safely say that it's probably 'everyone but Scaly' mode in this instance.

I can understand your dislike of Derbyshire though - not English enough for you ;)

Let's forget about the chances he misses for a second, however many or few they may be. In fact, let's put all statistics to one side, and think back to all the goals Henry's scored this season, and since he arrived in England.

The man has probably scored more outstanding goals than anyone ever to play in the Premiership, with the possible exception of his team-mate Bergkamp. Almost every goal he scores is an absolute screamer.

Whether it's thumping drives from outside the area (vs Manchester City a season or two ago, vs Manchester Utd around the same time), backheeled nutmegs (vs Charlton in 2004 I think), stunning turn-and-volley efforts (vs Arsenal, 2001-02 goal of the season), awesome individual efforts (vs Tottenham in 2003-04, ran from his own half), pinpoint free-kicks (vs Bolton in 2004-05, many others), brilliant curlers (vs Villa a few weeks ago, after Adebayor's backheel), or simply consummate finishes like today's, the sheer level of technical ability the man possesses is scarcely believable.

If you've watched enough of Henry to count up all the chances he misses, you must surely have seen all these goals. If you have seen all these goals (and the countless others) then I simply don't see how you could deny that Henry is a player of rare genius.

You're probably going to say that scoring good goals is the same as scoring tap-ins, because they all count - a valid point, but to claim that there is more than one other player on this planet capable of the sort of regular artistry that Henry produces would be ridiculous.

The fact that Henry is capable of things that the vast majority of other players are not means he is a better player than them, and if you work by any logic other than that, then frankly I don't think I'll ever understand any point you try to make from now on.

If you signed Rikki to play up front for the CDMs, have him as the main front man that virtually every attack goes through, tell him to take nearly every free-kick (we'll leave out penalties because we know chief poseur bottles those) and know he'd get plenty of chances in most of the games he plays. Even Rikki would have scored some good goals over numerous seasons and hell he might even have a decent return in the big games and/or in the tougher fixtures.

So, basically, you're saying that any random footballer (we'll assume you're not saying any random human being, because you surely can't believe that) could do what Henry's done for Arsenal if placed in the same situation.

Then perhaps you'd care to examine Arsenal's recent record with Henry in the side compared to theirs without him.
