Tis ridiculous. Northants were 62-3 in their first innings when I went to pick my girlfriend up just under 2 hours ago...

Another. Must be the most wickets in a day by any cricketer ever surely?
Apparently not.

Blythe, Goddard and Verity all have 17 in the day according to internet people.

Rushworth coming off now which makes sense with Durham in the 50 over final this weekend.

Well done to Rushworth and Durham but to be bowled out in 17 overs is a disgrace. No-one even lasted 20 balls.

Ervine a hero but we are still in serious danger of ****ing this whole thing up. 6 more runs and we could even had half a chance of winning this match,

Cricinfo, reporting on Rushworth, stating "only two bowlers have ever taken a full set [ten in an innings] in the Championship, Middlesex's Richard Johnson in 1994 and Ottis Gibson for Durham in 2007 when he claimed 10 for 47 against Hampshire." Which is utter rubbish of course.

I dont follow the CC like I used to so I was surprised to see Northants in Div 1. I would only have been slightly more amazed if I read that they had FC status revoked. Just looking at the team it is rag tag. Nothing against James Middlebrook but I didnt expect him to be skipper and opening the batting.

At least they still have a beautiful ground and a fine track record of producing good local talent...

In other news, fantastic to see a genuinely talented Yorkshire side top the table. A different class and possibly the best Yorks team in recent memory.

Would that be since we had two divisions, maybe?

Kudos to Rushworth in any event. First bowler to take 15 in a day since WW2 if the Beeb is to be believed.

Nah, two Divs came in around 2000 IIRC. Perhaps he just meant "since I can remember" - it seemed a bit of a rush job. A quote from the star man would have been welcome.

It's a bit of a stretch to see "Kolpak" as a racist term, but the alleged "Get back to your own country" remark maybe muddies the waters a bit.

Perhaps, though I personally don't see it Re: Prince. Ive been told to **** of back to a variety of places while on the sports field and I have never seen it as an issue as I have been in their country and clearly not 'of the system'. Ive always considered "Get back to your own country" horribly racist and disgusting when directed at minorities who are already in their own country and not being accepted eg when applied in UK to Black and Asian Brits. This really isnt the case here unless Prince has made the UK his long term home - may be he has. I use the term perhaps as a case of guilt could probably be made but it is weak and I think threatens to take away from real serious issue regarding race and national origin.

I would hate the thought that the opinion - "The Kolpak system is flawed and 'Kolpaks' should go back and play in their own country as the money being paid to them leaves the system and could better be used to develop local talent" should be viewed as inherently racist.

Maybe this isnt the best place to discuss such issues but I think the ECB have missed the mark by a mile on this and Gale is getting repeatedly shafted.

It's sad, in a way, to see the likes of Northants and Lancashire getting so brutally exposed at this level.

Anyhow, in other news, yet another hundred for Ed Joyce. What a season he's had.

So is 'f*** off back to your own country you Kolpak f*****' racist?'

well when it's put like that

Telling someone to "**** off back to your own country" is clearly racial abuse, if you take (as the law in this context does) "race" as including "being foreign".

But I'd imagine that Ashwell Prince, and others around whom he grew up in Apartheid-era South Africa, may have had to put up with worse epithets in his time than "Kolpak"...
