Still could be a positive result in the game at the Rose Bowl. Somerset still 70 odd runs away from avoiding the follow-on and Tahir's taken five. His fourth of the season, not bad considering his only played ten games and statistically struggled.
He has either taken 5 or 6 or got none for about 150 this season, in serious danger of mucking this up completly with Somerset adding over 50 for the 9th wicket. Last two games we have been in a commanding position but looking like we might draw both of them.

Brilliant innings from Hales, but the Sky team are over-rating him already, comparing him to Marcus Trescothick. No way he should be in England contention yet, an average of 26.50 in List A cricket before this innings, with his only hundred coming against Ireland. Take nothing away from that innings though, was an excellent display of sheer power hitting. Certainly seems to have alot of talent.

Will be disappointing to see the Pro40 go next year. I've really enjoyed watching the young lads being given a chance in a 2nd OD competition. It's very pleasing to see such a wealth of exciting young English talent coming through the ranks. Wonder how many of them will kick on and make it to International level...

Well Flintoff was being hyped as the next Botham when he smashed Surrey in 2000 in a OD game.

But yea the commentators where a bit wild. I guess it just shows how desperate we are looking for some real exciting natural talent to come to the fore.

More like 1998 when he took 34 (one over) off Alex Tudor in a four day game.

Worcestershire doing this easy. 100 for Davies, maybe his last before he goes to The Oval.

Should be in the ODI team instead of Prior. An opener who makes use of the PowerPlays and has a good S/R, that's something England are crying out for.

Well Ramprakash sustained a broken thumb yesterday which seems likely to keep him out for the rest of the season (and, to add insult to injury, he was caught off the same ball). Surrey might need him to go out in the second innings though as this match is following a worryingly similar course to the Essex game, with Geraint Jones (156) in the Bopara role.

Could be in for a Twenty20 type finish at the Rose Bowl: Somerset 115 ahead, one wicket remaining and about 25 overs left in the match.

Another brutal cameo from Dwayne Smith. Currently has 58 from 20 balls and turned a tricky chase into a waltz for Sussex.

Good effort by Somerset to get the draw in the end. At 233 for 7 they were in dire straits but the last three wickets used up 20 overs to put the game beyond Hants.

Surrey have their backs to the wall as usual. I can see this being over by tea tomorrow. Ramprakash is highly unlikely to bat I'd have thought - it's not as if it's a promotion decider.

And Middlesex won the basement battle against Glos and will presumably now move off the bottom of the table.

Kent took complete control of their match against Surrey at Canterbury and look set to top Division Two, after a commanding third day performance. Geraint Jones moved from 102 to a career-best 156, putting on 183 with Darren Stevens who cracked 112. Jones was mostly untroubled until a lapse in concentration cost him his wicket, while Stevens suffered a tortuous period in the nineties where he could have fallen several times, most memorably when he offered a slip catch to Stewart Walters who couldn't cling on. Neither for that matter could Pedro Collins who dropped a dolly at mid-off off Tim Linley, and Surrey's day got even worse when they conceded five runs after Walters picked up Jon Batty's discarded wicketkeeping glove to collect the incoming throw. Surrey suffered further in their second innings, both openers falling within five balls of each other, as James Tredwell picked up three of the five to fall. They lead by 54 with effectively four wickets remaining, as Mark Ramprakash was yesterday ruled out of the remainder of the season with a broken thumb.
Couldn't happen any better, could it?

Was the best day at Scarborough.

Lyth was awesome and Rudolph should have got 100 as well.

Smith, well what can you say? What a brute, hit a kid in the hip about 4 seats away from where I was sitting. Feel bad for Joe Gatting, batted beautifully and was really unlucky not to get to 100.

Stuart Meaker is chipping in once more with vital runs for Surrey - he is looking like a good all round prospect. Although he is still raw with the ball, the talent is pretty obvious in that he rushes batsmen and seems to target the stumps more often than not.

Sreesanth is such a good bowler against right-handers. He looks like taking a wicket every delivery against them. Just a shame his next to useless against lefties.

That's one of the worst drops I've ever seen from Ian Bell in the slips.

Sreesanth should have had his second.

Haha, yeah, I saw that too. Funnier to see Bell shaking his fingers afterwards.

Surrey 173 ahead now, would be quite amazing if we could get out of jail here.
